  1. I would say they certainly do.  I've seen several people change gears without using the clutch in a street car.  I've heard it's very hard on the transmission, but oooooh so much fun too!

  2. Yes they do, it was perfected by Ricky Rudd back in the day on the road courses...

  3. Yes, all the time.

  4. They hardly ever use the clutch except for putting it in reverse or pulling out of their pitbox.  Usually they will take their foot of the gas for a split second but a lot of the time they can just shift without  that, as long as they are not winding the rpms too high.

  5. I believe they do.

  6. Only on pit road. There was a question like this a few days ago.

  7. Power shifting and not using a clutch are 2 different things.  Power shifting is always hard on a transmission and I doubt they do it.  Shifting without the clutch is also hard on the transmission but they don't shift except while pitting and on restarts on ovals so its probably not that bad if they are good at it just because they do it so few times per race.  They do use the clutch on road courses because of the number of times they shift.  They love showing Boris Said and the other drivers feet on the road courses using different techniques.

Power shifting - shifting while keeping the gas pedal floored and still using the clutch

No clutch shifting - use the gas pedal to match revs while you shift without the clutch

  8. Normally the only time they would use the clutch is to start and stop.  Transmissions are set up to shift with out the clutches.

  9. That's all they do!

  10. the only time they hold it in is at a dead stop or may use it shifting under caution

they need a certain rpm to be synchronized
