  1. Each person will have a different opinion of what makes a good driver.

Jimmie's a good driver, few will dispute that.

The chase is the final 10 races of the season, all the points are reset and the top 12 drivers will compete for the championship. If any of those 12 drivers won a race prior to the chase, he will be given 10 bonus points per win. The driver with the most points at the end of those 10 races wins the championship.

    Hope that helped.

  2. Jimmie Johnson is a great driver he won the last 2 championships (2006 and 2007).

What makes a good driver depends on how you define good. Drive? Determination? Wins a lot? Personality? many factors contribute to this.

The chase for the sprint cup is the last ten races of the season. here. This will explain everything.

  3. Good Driver: in my opinion it is a clean driver, who doesnt wreck other people, mind their own business, but still run good, My guy is Bobby labonte. Other clean guys are, jimmie johnson, jeff burton, casey mears, dave blaney, kyle petty, clint bowyer.

then there are semi aggressive drivers, that bump and such if necassary, juan montoya, jeff gordon, carl edwards, kasey kahne, and such.

and then there are the overly aggressive guys, tony stewart kyle busch, kevin harvick, robby gordon.

But i think you shoul be a clean racer, since racing is the fastest, not the guy that can wreck the most people. I am also a major juan montoya fan, because if someone messes with him, he wont take it, but he minds his own business, like a bald eagle, peaceful, majestic, but mess with one of his chicks and he'll rip your eyes out with his razor sharp talons.

and johnson is VERY good, won the last 2 championships, and will contend for this one, was 2nd in points the 2 years before that i believe as well, he has something like 36 wins, in about 250 or so races, while jeff gordon has about 500 races with 77 wins or so, and jeff gordon is one of the greats.

also, the chase is the last ten races of the season, they reset the points for the people that make it, like playoffs if you want to think of it that way, and the top 12 in points all get reset according to how many wins they have, the rest of the drivers all fight it out for 13th the last ten races, while the chasers get basically bunched up, and makes the championship more exciting. so basically, its like nfl playoffs in a way.

  4. What makes a good driver is guys like Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch. They are a couple of the best and as bad as I hate to say it so is Horseboy Carl Edwards. They all have talent and are agressive so that helps them win more races. You got to have talent, the fire in your belly, the desire, and you can't let it be about the money. Just go out there and try to win. Believe it or not only a few drivers possess all those traits and thats why they're at the top right now. The chase is a lame thing invented by NASCAR to keep everybody close and give bad drivers who haven't been all that spectacular for 26 races a fighting  chance to become the NASCAR champion even though its not really deserving. It's basically an unfair system that penalizes people for being good over the long run and forces them not to s***w it up for 10 races. Jimminator J is the 2 time defending championship but take away his crew chief, and his great ride at HMS and he's nothing special as noted by his crappy truck driving skills at Bristol on Wednesday. He looked like such an amateur. He is above average and will make the chase though so I guess he's ok but it was funny watching him wreck in his truck.

  5. 1. Determination (a 'never say die' attitude)

    2. Skill

    3. Great pit crew

    4. Great crew chief

    5. Fan friendly

  6. To be a good driver one has to have talent. they must have insight, reflex, stamina, patience and endurance. They must have a steady hand a good eye and be capable of ' feeling' the air move around them.  They can not be prone to panic, or stress. And they must be fairly intelligent to understand things like 'the draft'  'pushing', 'bumping', 'control', and 'shooting around another car. They must be able to communicate well with the pit crew and the spotters. And be able to maintain all of these talents inside a car that is baking hot inside and for several hours at a time.  It takes incredible talent and strength  to be able to control a car at almost 200 MPH and 2 inches, or less, from the bumpers of your opponents.

The Chase is simply the top 10 drivers in points and the last 10, or so races of the season, competing for the championship. And Jimmy has been that champion in the past, the past couple of years either he or Jeff Gordon were winning most all the races. He is definitely one of the best.
