  1. Just start watching.  Eventually you will naturally gravitate to one driver.  Its a matter of the heart and you just cant control who you like/dislike.  I decided early I was going to pull for Tony Stewart but it just never would stick.  You will find somebody to relate to in time.

  2. It's unoriginal to like Jr.  Don't go there.

If you want an up and coming driver that's a nice guy and has a great future go for Denny Hamlin.

If you want a talented jerk.. pick Kyle Busch.

If you want a great driver whose in his prime.. Jimmy Johnson.

I'd say.. just start watching and one will stand out to  you.

  3. well, when i first started watching nascar i went with dale jr. he was smoking hot at the time. winning all of these races, and i think he finished third in the points that year. i still love jr, but over time, you start liking other drivers.

  4. Tony Stewart or Dale Jr or Jimmie Johnson

  5. Kyle Petty. Best family in racing!

  6. pick deny hamlin he is a good clean racer

  7. You have to make your own pick there I think. I didn't like racing until I picked a driver to pull for. But don't go for someone just because that is who everybody else likes.  Figure that out on your own you will enjoy it more.

  8. True story--my wife went with Kevin Harvick because she only wears gray, black, and red, and that is what Harvick's colors were at the time.  In other words, his cap matched her outfit when we went to Daytona, and she asked me, "Is this a good driver?" before she bought it!  She likes Harvick for his aggression now.

You may want to choose a driver based on better reasons.  Don't just go with the one everyone likes or your friends like.  Look at the top points standings.  Listen to interviews.  Watch how they react.  For example, I like Tony Stewart's emotionality and bluntness and the way he psyches other drivers out when he races.  But some people value Jeff Burton's safety-consciousness and gentlemanly manner.   Others like Jimmie Johnson's quietness, or Carl Edwards' cheerfulness.  One thing you'll learn is that there's more than one kind of "winning attitude" in NASCAR.

  9. watch the #1 car and the #6 and you'll figure it out. Besides, no one hates these guys yet. It's the best option, without forcing personal opinion on you. They're from different teams, and they both have room to improve. Don't get stuck on just one driver though. They're all great. Keep an open mind!

  10. I can certaimly tell you two drivers NOT to like-

    1) Kyle Petty- Nice guy, but sadly a lock for a top 40 finish

    2) Jeff Gordon- Perennial whiner about everything and everybody, including team-mates for not helping him win, (yes, he whined about Jr. not helping him win last week). If he had his way all the other cars would park at the drop of the green and he could tra-la-la on the track by himself.
