Question:

Nashville PD/TBI?

I will be relocating to Nashville in the next few months and wanted to join either the local PD or the TBI doing computer work (forensics or cyber crime). I was wondering about how to go about doing this (what goals I should work for - certs, degree, etc) as well as what would disqualify my chances of going in (arrests, etc). I was arrested in the state of VA 4 years ago on a marijuana possession charge, but that dropped and never prosecuted..does this ruin my chances of getting in?

  2. Here's the recruitment page of the Nashville PD (if you haven't found that one already):

Personally, I wouldn't think it would get in the way because you were never convicted of anything (you know, the whole innocent until proven guilty thing). But, that's just a personal opinion from someone who is not a police officer. I  would recommend that you e-mail a recruiter and ask if you're particular situation is enough reason to merit disqualification. You just never know these days, it might be just enough. I hope not.

Whatever the outcome, I hope everything works out well for you, and welcome to Nashville.
