Nashville Predators' Hal Gill's condition improving might return in round 2 -NHL Playoffs Update
Nashville Predators’ Hal Gill has been reported to be improving in terms of his injury, which forced him to miss all five games of the Nashville-Detroit Red Wings series, and might just be making a comeback in round-two of the 2012 National Hockey League
(NHL) Stanley Cup Western Conference Playoffs.
Gill was expected to make a comeback in Game 5 against Detroit Red Wings but a determined Nashville club eliminated them despite his absence, giving them plenty of time to rest and the veteran defenseman more time to compile himself.
“It's nice we got some time off and we get some rest. I think a lot of guys need to get a break and stand back and get geared up again. I think every day I'm feeling better. I think I'm going the right way,” Gill said.
Seeing how Nashville has managed to play without Gill, there is no telling what they might be able to achieve with him back on the line-up, giving his teammates a reason to be excited.
“It's a huge guy we're talking about here. Just his presence, his experience means a lot,” goalie, Pekka Rinne, said of the 6-foot-7 defender “He's had deep playoff runs and won the Stanley Cup. That kind of presence and experience you can't replace. It's
going to be nice to have him back and now's a good time for him to heal up and get ready.”
Gill has been practicing with the team for a few days now and according to head coach, Barry Trotz, he is getting back into shape and looks ready to make a debut anytime now.
His skating has become better along with his ability to block shots and getting back up in time for a return to skating on the ice.
Hal Gill has numerous playoff related experience and is certainly needed by Nashville as he also provides a great addition on their penalty killing special teams. There is still no confirmation whether he will be starting in Game 1 against Phoenix Coyotes
but should not be ruled out in any case until further confirmation by the team.
