Nashville Predators defeat Boston Bruins 4-3 in overtime
Shea Weber scored in overtime, as the Nashville Predators held on for a 4-3 win over the Boston Bruins, at the Bridgestone Arena on Thursday night. The win moved the Predators to within a point of eighth placed Calgary Flames, keeping their playoff hopes
alive.
The Bruins got off to a great start on the night and took the lead early on. The Predators however, didn’t take too long to get back into the game, and levelled the scores. The second period saw the Predators scoring first to take the lead. This time, the
Bruins scored to tie the game, as the period ended with the scores on 2-2.
The final period saw both teams score a goal each, which resulted in the scores being level at 3-3 at the end of regulation time. The game then went into overtime where the Predators scored to win the game 4-3. Shea Weber of the Predators was named the star
of the game as he scored the winning goal in overtime.
Though it was the Predators who bagged the first shot on target, it was the Bruins who scored first in the period to take the lead. Boston managed to come up with some excellent attacking plays, which saw them scoring in the second minute. The goal was scored
by Tyler Seguin from a well placed flick shot.
The shots and plays kept on coming but it was the Predators who scored in the eighth minute to level the game. The goal was scored by Sergei Kostitsyn. There were a few more shots on goal in the opening period but the scores didn’t change, as the teams went
into the break level on 1-1.
The second period saw both teams continuing their attacking style of play, which allowed them to create a number of chances. However, this time it was the Predators, who scored through Colin Wilson to take the ead.
The Bruins didn’t have to wait long and managed to equalise in the 13thminute with David Krejci’s strike. The period ended with the scores level on 2-2.
The final 20 minutes of the game were a mere reflection of the previous two periods with the Bruins scoring first in the second minute through Patrice Bergeron to get into the lead. However, the Predators managed to level the scores in the 11th minute
through David Legwand. The period didn’t see any more goals and ended with the scores level at 3-3.
The game went into overtime where the Predators scored through Shea Weber from a powerful strike in the fourth minute to win the game 4-3.
