Nashville Predators defeat the Detroit Red Wings 3-1 – NHL Recap
The Nashville Predators beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-1 in an exciting game at the Bridgestone Arena on Saturday. The Red Wings were looking for a win to grab hold of the second position in the National Hockey League Western Conference standings. The Predators
needed a victory to hold on to their play-off spot.
The game had a decent start, as both teams displayed some excellent passing and shooting abilities. The Red Wings scored the only goal of the period to take the lead. The second period saw the Predators dominating, as they scored the only goal of the period
to level the scores. The Predators came out strong on the attack in the final period, as they managed to score twice to win the game 3-1. Jonathan Blum of the Predators was named the Star of the Game, as he scored the goal which put the Predators in the lead.
This game saw both teams making a cautious start, as they looked to contain and keep possession rather than attacking relentlessly. The teams were not eager to score, but waited for chances to come their way.
The period opened up with the passage of time, as both teams searched for a goal that would put them in the lead. The period saw the Red Wings finally scoring in the final minute through a superb tip-in shot by Danny Cleary during the power-play. The period
ended with the Red Wings leading 1-0, with 11 shots on goal to the Predators 10 attempts.
The Predators were the dominating force in the second period, as Blake Geoffrion managed to score from a decent flick-shot to level the score. The period saw the Predators coming up with some brilliant pieces of play, but no further goals were scored, as
the teams went into the break with the score level on 1-1. During the period, the Predators made 18 shots on goal, while the Red Wings came up with 9 attempts.
The final 20 minutes of play was dominated by the Red Wings, as they fired a barrage of shots on goal. However, it was the Predators who scored in the 9th minute through Jonathan Blum to get into the lead.
The Predators scored once again in the final minute through David Legwand’s flick-shot to win the game 3-1. The final period saw the Red Wings making 20 shots on goal, while the Predators managed 11 attempts.
