Nashville Predators’ defenseman Kevin Klein signs a contract with Herlev Eagles in the Danish League
Kevin Klein, a professional ice hockey player from Canada, who plays in the National Hockey League (NHL) for Nashville Predators as a defenseman, has signed a contract with Herlev Eagles in the Denmark’s Hockey League.
One of the reasons for Klein’s signing with the Danish team appears to be his sister’s presence in the same country, who is a professional volleyball player.
The 27 year old has been playing for Nashville Predators for a long time now and they are the only team that he has represented since he was picked up in the 2003 NHL Draft by them. He was picked in the second round of the draft by Predators as he was selected
37th overall.
The only other team that the defenseman had to play for, in the mean time was Milwaukee Admirals, the American Hockey League (AHL) team that he represented during the 2004-2005 season lockout.
But this time the offer from Denmark appeared to be very attractive to him because his sister, Laura plays for Frederiksberg Volley in the city of Copenhagen.
The NHL player is very happy to get a chance to go close to his sister and signed for the Danish side just few days after his sister did. Laura signed for Copenhagen on 9th November and Klein did it just a few days later. The distance between
two places is not more than 15 minutes so they would get a chance to meet each other often.
Klein revealed that the siblings did not get much of the chance to meet each other when he was at Nashville but now he would be happy to see her close to him. He told that when he was in Kitchener, they lived like a very happy family as his brother was also
there with him, along with the sister. He said,
“I don’t get to see her as much these days living in Nashville most of the year, so it’s really nice having her around and being able to be there for her here. It’s great, we have a very tight-knit family with most of our relatives being in and around Kitchener
and myself, my brother Derek, and Laura have always been close.”
