Nashville Predators draw level with Vancouver Canucks after 2-1 win in double overtime – NHL news
Nashville Predators have drawn the Western Conference semi-final series against Vancouver Canucks after their 2-1 win in double overtime in game two.
With the win, the semi-final series between the two sides stands at 1-1.
The game started on the slower side for both teams and they caught pace with the passage of time. There were several shots on goal but none of the shots was able to find the back of the net. The period continued with the Canucks getting into a strong position
but there were no goals. The Canucks scored a goal in the very first minute in the second period to put themselves into the lead. The Canucks were on top but they could not score any more goals. The final period saw one goal scored once again but it was the
Predators who levelled the scores. The game went into overtime but there were no goals. The second overtime saw the Predators scoring and winning the game 2-1 in the end. Pekka Rinne, goalkeeper of the Predators, was named the star of the game for his 32 saves.
The Canucks got off to a strong start as they piled up shots on goal every now and then. The Predators also started to create plays for themselves with the passage of time. The period saw both teams piling up numerous shots on goal.
The Predators were on top of their game but the period ended goalless. The Canucks made 6 shots on goal while the Predators made double of those.
The Canucks exploded at the start of the second period and constructed some brilliant plays. They scored in the second minute through Alexandre Burrows from a well-placed flick shot to put themselves into the lead.
The period saw the Predators coming up with several shots on goal but they were unable to score as the period ended with the Canucks leading 1-0. The Canucks made 4 shots on goal while the Predators made 9 of those.
The Predators continued their dominance as the final period began. There were several scoring chances for both teams with the Predators being the dominating team in creating chances and firing shots on goal. They scored in the 19th minute through
Ryan Sutter to level the scores through a superb flick shot.
The regulation time ended with the scores level on 1-1 and the game went into overtime. There were no goals there but Matthew Halischuk scored in the 15th minute of the second overtime to win the game 2-1 in the end.
