Nashville Predators focus on putting Detroit Red Wings on edge in Game 4 -NHL Playoffs Preview
The home-ice advantage did not work for Detroit when game 3 came to the Joe Louis Arena in Michigan as Nashville took a 2-1 lead in the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Western Conference playoff quarterfinals.
Now, the Predators are focused on breaking the barrier yet again with another victory on the road to put Red Wings on the brink of elimination when both teams meet for game 4 on Tuesday, April 17, 2012.
While Detroit knows that Tuesday could be a deciding moment for them, they try not to focus on it too much.
"I don't try to think too much about it," Tomas Holmstrom said Monday. "We have to enjoy this playoff and we have to win one game to get back in the series."
Nicklas Lidstrom is only a week away from turning 42-years-old and having a legendary player on the ice is definitely an honour for both teams. It was reported that this might be his last year playing hockey, but even the Nashville Predators are hoping he
will continue.
"He's arguably the best ever at his position, even though he's not as dynamic as Orr. I think he's the most efficient player at any position in the history of our game," Nashville Predators general manager, David Poile, said. "Do you think anybody in hockey
doesn't think Lidstrom wouldn't be effective again next season? I don't."
Lidstrom might not have had the level of influence in the series that he usually has, but with game 4 fast approaching, it is expected that the veteran defenseman will pick up the pace.
What Detroit needs at the moment is to actually score some goals. They are certainly not lacking in the opportunities department as the Red Wings team has 80 attempts in the past two lost matchups, but getting quality chances should be high priority for
them.
Holding back Shea Weber of Nashville should also be another aspect of their strategy as the top NHL defenseman has shown superior form in the series thus far as he continues to defend exceptionally and at the same time, put up some goals.
Game 4 will be taking place on Tuesday, April 17, at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit at 7:30 PM ET.
