Nashville Predators plays host to Detroit Red Wings in the sixth and final meeting between the two sides
Nashville Predators will play host to Detroit Red Wings in one of Saturday’s games at the HSBC Arena. This will be the sixth and final meeting between the two teams during the course of the season.
Out of the five games that have taken place so far, Red Wings won the first game by 5-2 after which Predators bounced back and won all the other four games.
The last game between the two teams was played on the 19th of March which saw Predators winning by 3-1 easily with Jonathan Blum scoring the winning goal of the game.
The interesting fact ahead of the game is that Red Wings has received 22 power-plays against Predators out of which Predators has managed to keep Detroit silent on 20 occasions.
This is one of the major reasons that Predators has come across so much success against Red Wings.
Red Wings will be welcoming back starting goalkeeper, Jimmy Howard, after a dreadful last six-game trip which has seen Detroit winning only one game in regulation time.
Not only this, Red Wings suffered the worst defeat over the past 18 years against St. Louis Blues, a team out of the playoffs thrashed them, 10-3.
This not only raised questions over Red Wings’ preparation for the playoffs but also whether or not it has good replacements for players who carry the team.
Detroit’s last game also marked the occasion when the home fans were witnessed booing the side which has happened after quite a long time.
The last time that this happened was on the 9th of October 1993 when Los Angeles Kings crushed Red Wings by the same score, 10-3.
"Work. Compete and work. That's all it was”, Babcock said. "We didn't do our jobs (Wednesday) night. It's simple. We flushed (Wednesday's) game, and we'll move on with our life".
Red Wings has played 77 games during the course of the season out of which it has won 44 games in regulation time and 10 games in overtime to score a total of 98 points.
Predators has played 78 games in the season so far out of which it has won 42 games in regulation time and 10 games in overtime, scoring 94 points.
Predators has stepped up its pace and came up with some brilliant results that has seen them winning nine of its last eleven games in regulation time.
It is four points ahead of the Central Division leaders, Detroit Red Wings, and in Predators’ last game against Colorado Avalanche, it won the game by 3-2.
An interesting fact about Predators is that it has won 18 straight games when it has scored three or more goals. The 39 wins in regulation time have come after Predators scored three or more goals.
