Nashville Predators plays host to Edmonton Oilers in the fourth and final meeting this season
Nashville Predators will host Edmonton Oilers this Tuesday. This will be fourth and final meeting between the two teams during the course of the season.
Out of the three games that have already taken place between the two teams during the course of the season, Predators won the first game, 3-2, while Oilers have won the last two meetings between the sides, 4-0 and 2-1, respectively.
Predators was at one stage out of the playoff’s cut but they came up with some decent performance that has seen them constantly jumping up positions in the Conference. They are in the seventh position in the Conference and looking good to finish in the play-off.
However, they are still not assured of a spot and need to win the remaining games if they need to cement their position in the cut with the play-off race getting tighter with each passing game and the regular season drawing to a close.
Oilers haven’t been able to qualify for the play-off for quite a few seasons and this season was no different. The team is the process of rebuilding and has seen some really good talent come to join them.
However, they got a major blow when they lost they star rookie player, Taylor Hall after a sprain.
This was the rookie player’s debut season and on the 3rd of March his ankle got a sprain which will keep him out for the rest of the season.
He is one of the most talented players in the National Hockey League who led Oilers offensive department with 22 goals.
After the injury to Hall, Oilers have been really struggling as they have won only one game out of the last six games that they have played.
They lost their last game against Colorado Avalanche by 3-2 in shootout.
Oilers have played 72 games during the course of the season so far out of which they have won 23 games in regulation time and 10 games in overtime to score a total of 56 points.
Predators have played 73 games during the course of the season out which they have won 38 games in regulation time and 10 games in overtime to score a total of 86 points.
Predators definitely need to win the game and score important points if they want to cement their position in the cut.
With Oilers missing one of their star players, Taylor Hall, Predators have a very good chance of coming up with a win.
Predators have piled some decent results which have seen them winning their last three games over teams who occupy play-off spots. Their most recent game against the Buffalo Sabres saw them trailing but they managed to win the game 4-3 in the end in overtime.
