Nashville Predators take 1-0 lead in Game 1 in hunt for their first play-off series win
The Anaheim Ducks hosted the Nashville Predators at the Honda Center this Wednesday to win the first game of the first round in the play-offs. The Predators were looking good ahead of the game and with this achievement, now take the lead in the series, also becoming the first team in the play-offs to record an away win this season.
The game started on a high note for the Predators as they came across a power play and scored the period's lone goal to get ahead.
The Ducks also came up with a couple of shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net. The second period saw the Ducks making a positive start, and saw them firing a couple of shots on goal. However, it was the Predators who managed to score twice later in the period to further extend their lead. They scored once again at the start of the final period to crush the Ducks. Though the Ducks scored, it was merely consolatory, as the Predators won the game 4-1 in the end. Mike Fisher, center of the Predators, was named the star of the game since he scored two goals and managed an assist during the game.
The Predators was right on the money when the game started and they scored in the fifth minute during power play to get into the lead. The goal was scored by Shea Weber as a result of a powerful strike. The Ducks, nonetheless, closely matched the Predators in the later stages of the game.
However, after the goal was scored, the game took a ferocious turn as both teams’ offence struggled to strike. Resultantly, the period ended with no further goals and the Predators leading 1-0. During this time, both teams each made 8 shots on goal.
The Ducks were the dominating force at the start of the second period, but the Predators soon countered by playing extravagantly. The Ducks successfully retaliated by scoring in the 16th minute through Steve Sullivan to extend their lead.
The Predators scored once again in the 19th minute and completed a superb performance in the period with Mike Fisher scoring from a decent strike. The period ended with the Predators leading 3-0, as they made 14 shots on goal while the Ducks made 8 shots on goal.
The final 20 minutes of play began with the Predators throwing down the hammer and scoring in the very first minute through Fisher once again. The Ducks too put up a good performance and scored in the 12th minute, unfortunately, it was no more than a comfort goal.
The goal was scored by Teemu Selanne during power play. In the end, the Predators won the game 4-1 to take a 1-0 lead in the series with the next game on their home turf.
