Nashville Predators thrash Detroit Red Wings 3-0
One of the important games for the Detroit Red Wings was when they played away to the Nashville Predators at the Bridgestone Arena. This was the 790th game of the season which was witnessed by a massive crowd. Detroit Red Wings had to win the
match if they were to keep pace with the top teams in the league but unfortunately they lost the match 3-0 in the end.
Despite the fact that they dominate the second and third periods of the match, they failed to score while Predators scored in the each of the three periods. Pekka Rinne, goal keeper of the Nashville Predators was named the star selection of the match as
he made 35 saves in the match and kept the clean sheet intact.
Nashville Predators made a decent start to the match and with each passing minute in the period got better and better. They didn’t take too much time to settle and immediately fired shots on goal and came up with some brilliant pieces of play. The home team
successfully took the lead with a goal in the 4th minute scored by Shea Weber from a powerful strike.
The period continued with the Predators dominating the game as were on top in the department of defence as well as offence. They didn’t give the opposing team any space to work their way past the defence. The Red Wings were restricted to their own half for
most of the period. However, they made a few goal attempts as the period ended but Predators still led 1-0 as the period ended. During the period Predators made 11 goal attempts while Red Wings made 6 goal attempts.
The second period of the match saw both teams come out attacking looking to score as many goals as possible and as soon as possible. The only goal of the period was scored by Nashville Predators who doubled the lead with the goal scored by Sergei Kostitsyn
from a brilliant backhand shot.
The period saw both teams continuing to attack even after the goal but no further goals were scored. The period saw both teams making 12 goal attempts each in the period as Nashville Predators led 2-0 going into the break.
The final 20 minutes of the period were surely going to be very exciting with the Red Wings expected to give it their all to score. This is exactly what happened as Detroit Red Wings dominated each and every department of the game.
They outplayed the Predators and kept possession for long period but weren’t able find any goals. The restlessness and the frustration piled up and the Red Wings went forward with force to attack. However, they were caught on a counter attacks which resulted
in the Predators scoring once again in the 18th minute through Sergei Kostitsyn to seal the win.
The period and the match ended with the Predators winning the match 3-0 in the end. During the period Predators made 6 goal attempts while Detroit Red Wings made 17 goal attempts but still couldn’t score!
