Nashville Predators win 3-0 against the Vancouver Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks hosted the Nashville Predators this Thursday at the Rogers Arena in what was an important game.
A win for the Canucks would help them extend their lead top of the table while a win for the Predators would cement them in a strong position in the running for the play-offs.
The teams were pretty much even and it looked as if there were goals in it for both teams. They fired in the same amount of shots during the course of the game which were 29 for each team.
However, the Predators proved to be the more productive of the two teams in the game as they outscored the Canucks 3-0 to win the game 3-0 in the end. Pekka Rinne, goal keeper of the Predators was named the star of the game as he made 29 saves during the
game to complete the shutout performance.
The Canucks were high on confidence as they were leading the league and looking to avoid a loss. Their recent form has seen them losing a game then winning a game. The inconsistency has cut down their lead at the top of the league to just three points.
However, this game started off with the Canucks starting off stronger of the two sides but with the passage of time the Predators got into the flow as well. They came across some easy scoring chances but the puck unfortunately didn’t find the back of the
net.
The period ended with the scores deadlocked on 0-0. During the course of the period, the Canucks made 11 goal attempts while the Predators made 8 goal attempts.
The second period followed the same roads but the Canucks were restricted to some extent. The offence of the Predators was also better than the last period as they constructed some brilliant attacks during the course of the period.
The shots dried up as the middle part of the period approached but the game caught pace once again at the end of the period.
Both teams came up with a couple of shots on goal but no goals were scored as the period ended with the scores still level on 0-0. During the period, the Canucks made 6 shots on goal while the Predators made 9 shots on goal.
The final period saw the Predators come up with a dominating performance as they scored in the second minute through Blake Geoffrion from a flick shot to get into the lead.
The game saw both teams making 12 goal attempts during the course of the period but it was the Predators night.
They scored twice in the 18th and 20th minutes to win the game 3-0 in the end. The goals were scored by Patric Hornqvist and David Legwand, respectively.
