2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series - Nashville Predators win 3-2 against the Detroit Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings hosted the 408th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series this Wednesday. The match was played at the Joe Louis Arena in front of 17,000 fans. This was the 27th game of the campaign
for the Nashville Predators while the Detroit Red Wings played the 26th game of the season.
The Detroit Red Wings made a firing start to the match. They attacked right from the word go and displayed some decent passing early on. However, they couldn’t score any goals.
The away team started to attack after the first few minutes of the period. The away side not only came up with a good performance but started to dominate the play and control the pace of the game. They scored in the 20th
minute to break the deadlock and take the lead. The goal was scored by Colin Wilson from a superb flick shot that found the top right corner.
The home team had a few more chances but they couldn’t find the back of the net as the period ended with the Nashville Predators leading 1-0. During the course of the period, the Predators made 14 goal attempts while the Red Wings
made 8.
The start of the 2nd period was absolutely splendid by the Nashville Predators as they continued their domination. They scored in the very first minute to double their lead. The goal was scored by Martin Erat from a
spectacular flick shot that left the goal keeper with no chance of stopping it.
The Red Wings had their share of chances but it was not until the 14th minute that they scored to cut the lead to just one goal. The goal was scored by Pavel Datsyuk from a long range shot. Detroit got stronger and stronger
as the period neared its end. They came close to scoring on several occasions but didn’t.
The period ended with the Predators leading 2-1 as they made 6 goal attempts while the Detroit Red Wings made 13 goal attempts.
The final period saw the teams making a cautious start as they didn’t want the other team to score and ruin their chances of a win. However, it was the Nashville Predators who scored in the 15th minute to take the score
to 3-1.
The goal was scored by J-P Dumont from a powerful strike. Detroit started to attack from then onwards. Though they were caught on counterattacks on few occasions but they didn’t bother and continued in their assault. They scored
in the 19th minute but it was too little too late. The goal was scored by Johan Franzen from a decent strike.
The match ended with the Nashville Predators winning 3-2. During the final period, the Detroit Red Wings made 13 goal attempts while the Predators made just 4.
