Nashville Predators win 4-1 against the Detroit Red Wings
The second game of Wednesday saw the Detroit Red Wings play host to the Nashville Predators. The game was expected to swing in favour of the Red Wings keeping in mind their current form but the Predators came up with a dominating performance at the Joe Louis
Arena to win 4-1 in the end.
Nashville Predators started the 809th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series sky high and scored twice in the first two periods with Red Wings notching up a goal in the second. Sergei Kostitsyn, winger of the Predators was the star player
of the game scoring a goal and making an assist as well.
Detroit Red Wings made the first goal attempt of the game after which the saw both teams attacking. The intensity of attacks increased with Predators scoring in the 4th minute through Martin Erat via a brilliant flick shot to get into the lead.
Goal attempts continued to be fired towards the goal with both teams having several chances to score. However, it was Nashville Predators who managed to score and double their lead with another goal in the 15th minute scored by David Legwand.
The home crowd was silenced with this as the Red Wings had absolutely no answer to the level of game that the Predators had on display.
The period saw couple of goal attempts made by both sides as the period neared its end but the scores didn’t change as Predators led 2-0 at the end. During the course of the period Predators made 9 goal attempts while Red Wings made 8 goal attempts.
The second period started off in a similar fashion as the first one. The difference was that there were more goal attempts made by both teams in the period as they displayed some excellent pieces of plays in doing so.
Nashville Predators extended their lead even further as they score their third goal in the 2nd minute through a brilliant strike by Colin Wilson. The period moved swiftly until the 11th minute where Predators scored once again through
Sergei Kostitsyn who scored his second goal of the night.
Both teams were very strong offensively and with the level of gave they displayed, there were surely more goals on offer. Detroit Red Wings started near the goal as time passed. Red Wings with their constant attacks and hard work finally managed to score
in the 17th minute through a Ruslan Salei flick shot.
The period didn’t see much with both teams continuing to attack. Predators led 4-1 as the period ended as they made 13 goal attempts in the period while Red Wings made 14 goal attempts.
The final period was expected to be a goal fiesta but things turned out to be completely different. Nashville Predators came up with a few goal attempts but their main concentration was on defence. Though there were some mistake at the back but Red Wings
weren’t able to take advantage from them.
The Predator’s defensive mentality coupled with Red Wings failure to capitalize from the chances resulted in the period ending goalless. The end result was Predators winning the game 4-1 as they made 8 goal attempts in the final period while Red Wings made
13 goal attempts.
