Nashville Predators win 4-3 against Anaheim Ducks in over-time to lead series – NHL Play-offs Update
The fifth game of the National Hockey League quarter-final between the Anaheim Ducks and the Nashville Predators was played at the Honda Centre this Friday that saw the Predators winning 4-3 in over-time to take a lead in the Play-off series.
Both teams knew what it takes to win a game while playing on home and away ice. This game saw the Predators coming out strong and scoring goals. Though the Ducks managed to draw level at the end of the game, but it was the Predators that won the game 4-3
in overtime.
The game started with the Predators making quite a few shots on goal right from the start. Despite the away disadvantage, they got into the lead with a goal. The second period saw both teams coming up with quite a few shots on goal, but they were not successful
in scoring. However, the Ducks scored a goal in the power-play to level the score. The Predators came out strong in the final period and made quite a few shots on goal, as both teams scored two goals each during the period to keep the score on level terms.
The game ended when the Predators scored in over-time to win 4-3 in the end. Jerred Smithson, centre of the Predators was named the Star, as he scored the winning goal.
The Predators were quick out of the blocks and dominated the early part of the game. They were able to convert the good start into productive game play as they scored in the ninth minute to get into the lead. The goal was scored by Kevin Klein from a decent
tip-in shot.
The period saw both teams coming up with more shots on goal, but none of them found the back of the net as the period ended with the Predators leading 1-0.
The Ducks continued to dominate the initial few minutes in the second period. However, this time it was the Ducks who scored to level the score. The goal was scored in the power-play through Jason Blake in the 14th minute.
The period came to an end with the score level on 1-1 with the Predators making eight shots on goal while the Ducks made 11 attempts.
The Ducks started a very strong and quick start to the period, as they scored in the very first minute to get into the lead. The goal was scored by Bobby Ryan from a decent back-hand shot. The Predators took some time, but they scored a goal in the 12th
minute through Joel Ward to level the score.
Anaheim responded with a goal in the 15th minute through Blake from a flick-shot. The Predators scored in the final minute through Shea Weber to keep the score on level terms. The period and the game ended with the score level 3-3.
The Predators scored in the second minute through Jerred Smithson from flick-shot to win the game 4-3 in over-time.
