Nashville Predators wins 3-2 against Colorado Avalanche at its home ice – NHL Updates
Colorado Avalanche hosted Nashville Predators at the Pepsi Center this Thursday which saw Predators notching up two important points as it won by 3-2. Predators needed the win to stay in the cut as the battle for the final few spots is ever so close while
Avalanche is out of the playoff’s contention and was playing as spoilers in the game.
Things kicked off with both teams starting out strong on the offence and maintaining a tight defence. With the passage of time the attacks intensified in search of goals and it was Predators who scored the lone goal to get into the lead.
The second period saw Predators ending the period as the better team once again as it bagged the lone goal of the period to double its advantage.
In the final period, Predators scored a goal and Avalanche scored two goals which meant that Predators won the game by 3-2 in the end.
Martin Erat, Predators’ winger, was named the star of the game as he scored a goal and came up with an assist.
Both teams came up with strong plays and shots on goal right from the start of the game. There were some brilliant pieces of play and some easy chances for both teams to score goals but they were unable to convert them into goals.
Predators proved to be the more productive of the two teams in the period as it scored in the 15th minute through Colin Wilson’s well placed flick shot that put them in the lead. This proved to be the lone goal of the period.
The period saw Predators leading 1-0 and making 12 shots on goal while Avalanche made nine shots on goal.
The dominating force in the second period was Predators that came out strong not only on the offence but also on the defence, restricting the opposing team to almost nothing.
Predators was able to convert the chances it got into a goal in the 11th minute which was scored by Jordin Tootoo. The period saw Predators piling the pressure right till the end of the period but no further goals were scored and Predators was
leading 2-0 at the end.
During the period, Predators made 18 shots on goal while Avalanche made five shots on goal.
Predators continued on the attacking roads in the final period and scored once again in the 13th minute through Martin Erat during a power-play.
Avalanche also managed to pile up shots and scored in the 14th minute through Paul Stastny and another one in the final minute through David Jones’ brilliant shot.
However, it was the Predators who won the game 3-2 in the end.
