Nashville Predators wins 5-4 against Anaheim Ducks in a close and nerve-wrecking encounter
Nashville Predators played host to Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Center this Thursday, a game which they won 5-4 in the end.
Ducks are still in the running for the play-offs, occupying the final position in the cut. Predators, on the other hand, are in the fifth spot in the West and were looking to win the game and move closer to the fourth placed Phoenix Coyotes.
The game started off with Predators attacking right from the word go.
They successfully scored early on to get into the lead. Predators with the constant pressure scored two more goals to lead 3-0.
Ducks came up with a few shots and scored to cut the lead to a single goal. The second period saw both teams coming up with a few shots on goal but it was the Predators who scored the lone goal of the period.
The final period saw the Predators scoring the first goal with the Ducks scoring three more before the period ended.
The Ducks fell short by a single goal as the Predators won the game 5-4 in the end.
Sergei Kostitsyn, winger of the Predators was named the star of the game as he scored two goals.
Both teams made a strong offensive start to the game but it was Predators who scored in the third minute through Sergei Kostitsyn to get into the lead. The goal was scored through a well placed flick shot.
The period saw both teams continuing to dominate the game offensively and the Predators bagged another goal in the 12th minute through Nick Spaling to double their lead.
As soon as the game restarted, Predators scored once again in the very same minute through kostitsyn once again.
Ducks were able to come up with some resistance as they scored in the 17th minute through Corey Perry. The period ended with Predators leading 3-1.
The second period saw the both teams a little reluctant to go on the attacks with Ducks making 5 shots on goal while the Predators made 10 shots on goal.
However, Predators scored the lone goal of the period in the 19th minute which was scored by Jordin Tootoo.
The final 20 minutes of play stated off with Predators scoring in the 10th minute through David Legwand.
However, the Ducks were able to come up with some strong plays that saw them scoring in the very same minute through Teemu Selanne from a decent strike. Ducks another goal in the 16th minute through Selanne once again.
The strong show by Ducks saw them scoring once again in the final minute through Corey Perry from a brilliant backhand shot. However, this Ducks fell short by a single goal and it was the Predators who won the game 5-4 in the end.
