Pakistan’s young opener, Nasir Jamshed, feels that facing the new ball is the most difficult job in batting and also expressed his desire to represent his country in the longer version of the sport.
After performing consistently at the junior level and in domestic cricket, the 22-year-old made his way to the national team in 2008 and impressed one and all with his ability to strike the ball hard. The left-handed opener however, has not played much international
cricket because of fitness issues and inconsistent performances.
The batsman from Lahore has been limited to the 50-overs format till date, even though he has always done well in first-class cricket.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jamshed-c66276 hopes that he will be able to gain the selectors’ confidence for Test cricket, which he thinks is the pinnacle of the game for every cricketer. However, in order to be successful in the five-day version, the opening batsman understands that he will
have to raise his fitness level, which has been found wanting at times in past.
"Playing a bigger format demands high fitness [and] skill," he said. "I have the temperament [for Test cricket but] it requires [high] fitness levels. It's because of the weight I had gained that I was out of the scene until this year,” the 22-year-old expressed.
The youngster understands that there are many openers coming through the ranks of national cricket and said that the ones who score runs consistently at all levels will eventually cement their places in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 team.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nasir-c78728 further added that starting the innings tests the real abilities of a batsman and one must have a sound technique in order to be a successful opener. The left-hander also wants the selectors to be persistent with the young batsmen and give them consistent
opportunities.
He believes, "It's about scoring runs. Everyone wants to play but only who scores can stay. Opening is a very specialist slot and probably the hardest one in the batting order to play at. The opening combination is very important and more time you give to
the combination, the more you get success and runs at the top."
