The Italian coach has come under a lot of criticism following Paris Saint-Germain’s poor start to the campaign but the club chairman has sided by the Italian tactician
Yesterday, Paris Saint-Germain chairman, Nasser Al-Khelaifi conducted a press conference at Camp des Loges. The president’s press meeting gave French journalists a lot to write on for the early morning pages.
Things have not gone according to plan for PSG who are still awaiting their first win of the season. A 2-2 draw on the opening day of the season against Lorient was followed by two stalemates against Ajaccio and Bordeaux in week 2 and 3 respectively.
After spending a fortune to attain the services of the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thiago-Silva-c34903, it was expected that the Ile club would lit alight the Ligue 1 and would be in the thick of things from the word go.
However, the exact opposite of this has happened so far.
While talking to reporters, Al-Khelaifi said that it is not an easy http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 to create a team and people should be patient.
“We must be patient. This is not a very good start for sure. We would have preferred better starts. We will improve,” promised Al-Khelaifi.
Carlo Ancelotti has come under a lot of criticism following PSG’s poor displays. However, Al-Khelaifi has leapt to the defence of the coach and said that the club has one of the best managers in the world at the moment and he needs time to take PSG to the
next level.
“He is one of the best coaches in the world, if not the best. Honestly, for me, he is a fantastic coach. But he needs time. You build a team, not just buy it.”
Sporting director, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-c22056’s recruitment policy has also come under some criticism but Al-Khelaifi has given the Brazilian his full backing.
“This is not true. Whether he (Leonardo) should be criticised, I’ll be the one doing that. All he did was good for the club. I am very satisfied with what we have achieved.”
Many journalists have further criticised PSG for their lack of investment in Ligue 1. However, Al-Khelaifi says that the recruitment cell has tried to bring in players from the Championnat.
“We’d love to buy French players. But for us, it is difficult. Clubs have told us, ‘Please do not buy our player.’ And as it is respectful, we have not approached the players in question. We like to keep good relations with the Ligue 1 clubs.”
Certainly, a little too much has been made out of PSG’s success in recent weeks. PSG have spent a lot of money this summer but a team cannot be converted into a formidable force just by spending a fortune. Ancelotti needs time to get the best out of the
current squad and it is good to know that Al-Khelaifi has not lost his patience.
