The Paris Saint-Germain president is a happy man in town, after Les Parisiens returned to the Champions League following an absence of eight years
The Ile giants showed the world what they can do in Europe this season with a convincing 4-1 win over Dynamo Kiev at Parc des Princes, on Tuesday.
While talking to reporters, Al-Khelaifi said that to see Paris Saint-Germain play in the Champions League again is simply amazing. The Ile giants were impressive in their opening match of the competition and the 38-year-old is happy with the team’s perfect
start.
Al-Khelaifi, a former professional tennis player, said that to hear the Champions League music at Parc des Princes after such a long time was a great moment for the capital club, and has backed PSG to do well in the competition.
"It's a good way to start the Champions League.  It was a great win and hearing the Champions League music at the Parc des Princes was a beautiful moment.
The president knows how hard it was for the Paris club to return to the European club competition, and has congratulated the team for winning their tricky fixture on Tuesday. Al-Khelaifi said that the win is great for team morale and it will set the tone
for the rest of the campaign.
“After eight years, getting back into the UCL was very difficult and it was very important to win this evening. The entire team was perfect this evening."
Like the president, club coach, Carlo Ancelotti is also pleased with his side’s return to the Champions League.
 “The atmosphere in the Parc was fantastic, because the club has been waiting for this moment for eight long years.
However, the 53-year-old is not getting carried away and has urged his players to continue their good run of form.Paris Saint-Germain will face FC Bastia in their next Ligue 1 encounter, and Ancelotti has already shifted his attention to the domestic matters.
“Now we have to turn our attentions to our next match, against Bastia, this Saturday, to confirm our current good form."
