The Malaga supremo was disgusted with the way television revenue is distributed in the Iberian Peninsula and did not shy away from revealing his feelings to the media.
With the start of 2012/13 La Liga season a month a half away, the problems that gripped Spanish top flight football continue to linger. While the problem of non-payment of wages to players has regressed, distribution of finances amongst the clubs still remains
as a big issue.
Malaga President, Abdullah Al Thani, took out time to talk on the subject and did not hold back his emotions as he criticised the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the associated bodies.
The Arab billionaire was unimpressed at how finances are distributed amongst clubs and did not shy away from voicing his belief in a recent interaction with media personnel.
He complained about the distribution of television rights between clubs from the Liga and Liga Adelante and demanded that there should be an agreement on how clubs are given portions of television rights.
Al Thani asked that television money should be distributed more equitably and the federation should look at the system which is not governed at the moment. He added that there is prevalent corruption afflicting the system as some clubs bribe their way for
greater finances.
"My request is to split the money from television rights more fairly. I ask nothing but to avoid corruption and bribery by some clubs," Al Thani posted on his Twitter profile.
He questioned that the financial model for second division teams, who are collectively given a total of 29 million Euros amongst them.
The Arab businessman remarked that the non biased and political media will have to step in to change the situation.
Al Thani also talked about the alleged tax evasion by clubs but are able to dodge the authorities with their tactics.
"How is it possible that the second division teams carried the television rights only EUR 29 million, why there is a difference of 65 million between the second and third most income received?"
"How can clubs develop in the best league in the world if such things happen?" He continued.
"It's a mess there are other clubs who evade taxes and we know what ... If this continues, it will be very damaging to the reputation of the league, the consequences of what is happening can come suddenly.”
