Nasser Hussain backs Andrew Strauss in the current situation – Cricket News Update
Former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964, and believes that the left-handed opener is not able to concentrate on his game because the team is not able to perform in
Asian conditions.
Strauss had a torrid time in the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE) and now he is struggling to deliver the goods in Sri Lanka as well. England happens to be the number one ranked Test team of the world but it has lost four Test matches
on the trot against Pakistan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
On top of that, the left-handed opener is not able to score a lot of runs off-late, which is a demoralizing factor for the whole team. There has been a lot of criticism on the left-hander in the English media and some of the former cricketers. They have
openly expressed that England’s captain in the One Day International (ODI) format - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026, should be given the charge in the longer version of the sport as well.
However, Hussain, who is a consistent follower of the English team, does not believe that the criticism on Strauss is justified because he is not the only batsman who is struggling with form. The likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eoin-Joseph-Gerard-Morgan-c56032 have also
battled to find form in Test cricket recently. Nasser feels that the poor showings of the English team have badly affected the captain as well.
Former captain said, "When I look at Andrew Strauss's indifferent form this winter, I do not see an England captain fretting about his batting."
Nasser referred to the time when he was the leader of the English team and said that it was also very hard for him to concentrate on his individual performance because he was more focused on getting the best out of the team.
"Go back to my bad times with the bat when I was in charge, and you could see that my brain was scrambled, my hands, feet and head were all over the place at the start of my innings. That is not the problem for Strauss unless he is disguising his anguish
very well," he added.
