Former English captain and current commentator, Nasser Hussain, feels that English right-handed run-getting-machine, Kevin Pietersen, has shown his best at Lord’s, scoring a double hundred in the first innings against the World No.1 Test team, India.
Hussain also claims that the 31-year-old Pietersen has answered his critics by placing his team in a commanding position in the ongoing 2000th Test match of cricket history.
The ongoing Test match at Lord’s is the 2000th Test match of cricket history and also the 100th between England and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
It was a brilliant moment in the home of cricket, at Lord’s, when Kevin was celebrating his double ton. Hussain was also happy to see this fabulous performance by Pietersen.
While talking to media, Hussain said, "If there was any doubt going into this game about how good a player Kevin Pietersen is, that innings has surely put it to bed."
Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IR-Bell-c1597 were the batsmen, who contributed their best, scoring 202, 70, 71 and 45 respectively.
Nasser further added, "He's still got work to do in one-day cricket, but at Test level this was as clever an innings as you could hope to see. I know http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Z-Khan-c98379 didn't make it onto the field on Friday, but you can only take on the bowlers you're up against
and Pietersen took them on brilliantly."
Conditions were totally favourable for the bowling side on Day 1 but it was almost a safe day for England as they were at 127 runs after losing their opening pair, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964, facing 49.2 overs.
On Day 2, Indian pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/P-Kumar-c2143 picked up Trott early. On the other hand, the Indian skipper, Dhoni, decided to bowl himself in the absence of Zaheer Khan. He bowled 8 overs but remained wicket-less, despite some close chances.
Kumar was the main man from Indian squad. He picked up 5 wickets for his side, while Zaheer Khan, who had to miss the 2nd Day and first innings for team India due to his hamstring Injury, had claimed 2 wickets on Day 1.
It was courtesy Pietersen’s double ton that the Poms declared their innings on a massive 474 run total.
