Former England skipper, Nasser Hussain, feels that the hype surrounding his “donkey” comments has surprised him as much as anyone and feels that it was not meant to offend anyone in particular.
In the One-Off Twenty 20 match, which the hosts won by six wickets, Hussain remarked on the fielding of the Indians, saying, "There are one or two donkeys" in the team.
His words were not taken gently back in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, where fans and the BCCI have publically come out and asked the current English commentator to apologize for his rude remarks.
Hussain though feels it is a commonly spoken jargon in England and plays down talks that it was meant to insult the touring party.
"I don't want to say too much about this because I have found the reaction amazing. I just can't believe the fuss over what is a bit of cricket slang. It is a term I used all the time when I was a captain. Nothing personal was intended," said the former
player.
Throughout the course of the series, Hussain has gotten involved in various arguments, most notably with Indian commentator http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ravishankar-Jayadritha-Shastri-c84254.
Both disputed on the stance of the Decision Review System, where Shastri believe that the BCCI is right in standing against the use of it as it still lacks consistency.
While his counterpart stated the opposite, claiming that the technology must be applied to high profile matches, which aids the umpires in making the right decisions.
The argument was put to rest before Hussain embarked on other scathing attack on the Indians by labeling their team bus an ambulance.
The ex-skipper feels that he is in the line of fire for all the wrong reasons and that his comments must not be taken seriously as these are terms which he has used throughout his cricketing career.
The Poms have totally dominated the series in every department and will look to inflict more misery when the two sides meet at the Oval today, in a day and night encounter.
The Men in Blue are currently 1-0 down in the series and will look to silence Hussain and the whole of the English contingent.
