Question:

Nastia Liukin Rude Face?

Who thinks Nastia liukin has the worst ***** face of life? Don't say shes focusing because Shawn Johnson and all the other gymnasts manage to smile and not have such a you're-lower-than-me face. Even after she performs, she smiles for a second and then back to her bitchy, ungrateful face. When shawn beat her on beam and they were at the medal ceremonies, she had a rude/bitchy look on her face kind of like she wanted to rip the medal off of johnson. Don't get me wrong she's an amazing gymnast but IMO not very likeable unlike Johnson who is always grateful and genuinely sweet even before she has to perform the best/hardest routine of her life. Okay just a rant and does any one agree?

  1. She does kind of look a little.. err, meaner.. than Shawn. Shawn seems way more likeable than Nastia.

  2. I agree!!! Completely.

It's not because she's Russian, look at Yelena Isinbayeva and all of the other Russian competitors. ARKO801, that's a discriminatory comment.

    I also agree with unease.

    :)

  3. shes russian what can you do?

  4. Yes i agree with you for the most part. To me it seems she was not sincerely happy for Shawn and her success on the beam, her smile looked fake in my opinion.

  5. Wellll, I did notice somewhat of a face on Nastia. (How could I not, shes gorgeous.)

BUT, you must remember, people have different personalities.

Some people are extremely happy and friendly all the time. (SHAWN)

Some people are more reserved and serious. (NASTIA)

The culture might have something to do with it, but in the end, its a difference in personalities.

Nastia comes off as more of a dignified gymnast who is proud of her perseverance, her status, and her family. When this mixes with her personality type, whamo, there in lies the serious face.

Great job for team USA. We powned again.

  6. I think she was focusing.  I didn't take it as rude either.  Like the other poster said her family's not from America originally  -

She did great & has a lot to be proud of!

  7. Because she knows she should have won all the medals had it not been corrupt judges and juiced up little kids ruining the competition.  If only China had been expelled and Shawn injured, she would surely win everything as she deserves 5 golds.

  8. I don't think it's rude. She probably doesn't even notice that some people may take it as being rude.

In high school, lots of people always thought I was giving them mean looks or something... and I never even knew that I was! I guess I was just thinking or something. Haha.

Anyways, I don't think it was rude. We all know they are good friends.

  9. Haha, you must not watch a lot of gymnastics.  Gymnastics is all about being mentally focused - she just focuses on her goal a lot more than Shawn.  Sometimes Shawn's face has scared me too but I know she is just getting in her "zone."  If you base your opinions on what you see on TV during the Olympics, then there isn't much to go on.  Nastia is about as graceful and genuine as Shawn and she has had a lot more going againt her than others.  She has been told time and time again "You're too old and too beat up to compete."

Nastia was not s****. when Shawn got gold, they kept hugging and saying "can you believe it!?"  Nastia said that if she couldn't get gold, then she'd want Shawn to have it.  Then after Shawn won, Nastia and her dad said that they liked that outcome, that Shawn got her gold too and they  were very proud of her.  Stop judging her based on comparing her smiles to Shawn's.  Do you know how many times the camera focuses on both of them?  Do you really expect them to wave and smile the entire night?  And if they do smile and wave a lot, they are going to have to cut a lot of those parts out.

  10. she really just looks focused and intense. by the way, how happy can she be if she didn't win gold and that's what she was aiming for? you can only be happy for someone else to a certain extent.

  11. It's cultural. Some Europeans wonder why Americans always have an idiotic smile on their face. Now I'm one of those people with the idiotic smile, but I totally understand that a serious face in other cultures by no means indicate rudeness. In fact, in some cultures, a woman who smiles easily at strangers is considered a floozy.

  12. Omg I know. I was happy Shawn got her gold. Nastia had already had a lot. But Shawn did really nail the routine and Nastia just had a s****. face like I can't believe I didn't get it.

  13. It probably is just the way she looks or chooses to focus. But someone mentioned that given her expression, her name should've been Nasty Lookin

  14. She looked p*ssed. Seriously. Actually, the entire female US gymnastics team looked p*ssed during the team competition. It's like DUDE. You guys got SILVER. BE HAPPY. The male US gymnastics team was thrilled when they got bronze. The female team just looks really stuck up.

  15. Some people before me thinks Nastia was just focusing.  I say...The competition was over! Smile and don't look like you got something up your butt! Shawn has unique qualities about her that make her so likable.  She is adorable, humble, and genuine...to say the least.

  16. I think she is just focusing.

  17. Not everyone can be America's sweetheart like Shawn Johnson.

  18. OMG i knoww i totally agree with you. i like shawn johnson wayy more

  19. I can see where you're coming from.  Nastia does have an 'elitist air' about her - somewhat s****., but I think she's getting better.  Great gymnast though.

I do think that Shawn Johnson has better sportsmanship than Nastia - that's for sure.  Shawn's has a great attitude, is respectful to the other gymnasts, and she looks like she's having fun.  And, that smile is great.

  20. Nastia reminds me of Nellie Olsen from Little House on the Prairie.  A stuck-up rich b**** and daddy's little girl favourite.  Shawn Johnson came from an ordinary family with parents who mortgaged their house several times all for their daughter Shawn to have a chance in Beijing Olympics.

  21. I think that she should have displayed better sportsmanship.

  22. Nastia has Nasty attitude. Shawn Johnson is the best American athlete this year. What a personality. She is so happy for everyone. she is not like Nasita ME ME ME ME ME.

Thank you Shawn for proving there great ppl out there still

  23. Jeez, you need to learn how to read people a little better.

  24. i noticed her face, but i dont think its coming from a place thats mean, what would you do if the chinese were paying judges off to give you a low score? your face wouldnt look that great right?

  25. I completely disagree with you. And I have notice other gymanst from Russia who keep the same straight face. It looks like she is focusing intently on everything. And just because it looks some way to you does not mean it's what it really is. I have a similar face when I am concentrating on my next regatta. I have the face before, during and after the race. Even if I won or not. I'm just so concentrated on competing and my accomplishments that my face never changes.

  26. That's a competitive face to me.

  27. I too thought she seemed a little like a bad sport after her routines.  I have to admit though that I have not watched all of the recordings on my DVR yet.  But she did seem to be quite upset after the tie with China and I would have had a pissed look on my face too.  But that was not the first time I saw her face like that.  A smile, Russian or not, would not kill her.  She's America's athlete and she needs to represent as such.  I lOVE her routines though!  She's a top notch gymnast and whether she's a b!T(h or not, she wants what she has worked for like everyone else.  That shows her to be a strong and confident woman, which may be more important since not one of the can do gymnastics forever.

  28. Yeah, she does look a bit aloof and overly serious.

But I do feel sorry for her. She's the all-around olympic champion and clearly had the best performance at the olympics. But I think the media and the rest of American is going to cheer for Shawn who will probably get more endorsement contracts because of her cute smile and all-american girl background.

  29. No one has the same look on their face, just so you know. It looks like a serious face, not what you're trying to make it out to be. You're expecting everyone to be happy go lucky after their routine, but people are different and do different things.

  30. I agree she does, but she probably a) doesn't know she's making that face or b) can't do anything about it because that is just how she looks.

She's also the best female gymnast in the world so I think you should give her some credit, Johnson doesn't make that face and looks nicer, but then again Johnson doesn't have the all around gold medal, maybe Johnson could learn something from Liukin's face/competitiveness.

Would you rather make a mean face and be really competitive and win the gold or be sweet and win less?
