Question:

Nastia Luikin was screwed.?

My question is, how is this acceptable? It seems as if the rules are modified to fit the best interests of the Chinese and that is not fair. It should have been a tie and both girls receiving a gold medal, just like Bela Karolyi said should have been done.

It's not about the talent of the Chinese. No doubt both athletes were excellent.

But this new rule system does not make sense. Why throw out the highest and lowest scores? They earned them, so they should count.

NASTIA WAS ROBBED OF A WELL DESERVED GOLD MEDAL!!!

  1. H*LL YES NASTIA WAS ROBBED!!!

  2. for one, they have always thrown out highest and lowest scores, you just never knew about it. and the rules arent modified just to favor the chinese. these rules have been in place for over a year. also its not no ones fault that they couldnt both recieve gold medals except the olypmics commitees fault becasue they are the ones who put that into place.

  3. I don't think Nastya (I spell in such away as I am Russian and know how to spell and pronouns our names, I was amazed in Yahoo article that Nastya is American born in Moscow!!!) was screwed as you mentioned but the other girls were (Romania, Great Britain). Besides, the whole event (I mean gymnastics) is absolutely not fair.

I think chinese girls are performing ok but not for the medals but they have them cause it is not only sports but Money and then probably, politics!!!

  4. I know, I so agree! And the Chinese girl isn't even 16!!

  5. She was TOTALLY screwed. that tiebreaker should've never been accepted.

  6. I'm no expert but it sure looked beter than the others.  But its hard to judge the kids from China.  They look like little kids flipping around.  Nastia is more elegant but I don;t know how the judges score it.

The should have a kids olympics or a "Junior Medal" for these kids from China.

  7. Nastia deserved it. She was so ticked too.

  8. Completely agree.. the scoring system is corrupt and unfair.. Nastia Liukin DESERVES THE GOLD!

  9. d**n the Chinese and their 14 year old gymnasts.

The girl who won gold and the one who won bronze are both 14. In my opinion, China should be stripped of their medals including the team all around

  10. i hate china they are so annoying if i were nastia i would have taken my silver off during the chinese anthem and thrown it at that stupid 12 year old girl.

  11. NO

these rules were pre cautions in case of any more ties in the future

it was processed by the official olympic judging committee NOT china

NBC just explained how it worked a few minutes ago

they throw out the highest and lowest scores then if there's a tie they throw out the next lowest

so because of this the chinese girl's lowest score was 0.1 higher than nastia's lowest score

i was rooting for nastia too but it wasn't unfair

it was true that both would get gold medals 20 years ago but that can't happen anymore

  12. There have been many occurences in the Olympics where even the Chinese audience have questioned the ruling of the judges. I watched a ping pong match and the judge failed to pick up on a Korean point, and took the word of the opposition! Its ridiculous. The whole thing was a sham anyway politically, but this is unbelievable.

  13. there should never have been a tie in the first place!! this is ridiculous...  He of China had more serious errors than Nastia... i'm so pissed

  14. Nastia said herself she was judged fairly.

The other gymnast was scored with higher difficulty points that Nastia.

It's a fair score if you ask me.

Sure the other girl was probably underage, but either way, Nastia felt judged correctly and that's all that matters.

  15. I absolutely agree.  This is terrible and has been happening a LOT in gymnastics in this Olympics.  Not to mention the Chinese girls are all under 13.

  16. ya its rigged in favor for the chinese  gymnists

  17. This is the precursor of the new world.   Soon we will see the real face of China.  They are not originators, only perfected copies.

  18. ya d**n skippy...dis whole S**t is for the best interest of the chinese and it is not fair....just like alicia sacramone....gotta say she is sooooo hot omg.....well u right ..........u are right she was robbed

  19. Yeah, and it pains me to see Anastasia looking royally pissed during tonight's broadcast.  What the h**l was up with this "tiebreaker"?

  20. She was robbed big time. Her performance had less mistakes and those judges can't score for their life.

  21. When the Chinese gets bronze, or not win any medal, we don't hear them complaining and saying Americans are stupid. Americans are unfair and they've been robbed by Americans. I think the answers here just shows how sore losers Americans are. It's not a question whether Nastia is good or not. Undoubtedly she's very very good. Everyone knows she's got the talent. The whole world knows that! But she's not the only one. It's sickening to hear people, even commentators like Bela Karolyi insulting the Chinese just because the Americans didn't win. I don't even understand why he's being given airtime.

Cheating? C'mon! I'm sure we're not little kids here who try to put the blame on someone else just because we lost. What happened to maturity? To graciously accepting any award? I don't think sportsmanship teaches us to bicker and put the blame on someone else, just because we didn't win.

I don't think Nastia Luikin was screwed, or robbed. The Chinese girls were good too! And I don't think rules are modified to fit the best interests of the Chinese. Rules are rules. Whatever the judges decide on, I'm sure they're just going by the book.

  22. something is certainly going on with the judging.

i believe that nastia deserved that medal 100%.

it makes me mad, thinking that the girls are probably still lying about their age, in order to "add to the pride of china." who would want a gold medal if you had to cheat to get it?

  23. Yes, Nastia was robbed.  The routines of the Chinese girls should be thrown out because all the girls were under 16.

That being said, it's a bit of satisfaction knowing that China had to cheat to beat us.  :D

  24. No. Those have always been the rules. You just didn't know about them until now.

I think that there should be able to be ties, to have two golds or two silvers.

Ugh. I dislike Bela Karolyi. He repeated insults the Chinese gymnasts, calling them "half-people." What a horrible show of sportsmanship.

  25. Your completely right.  Its not acceptable at all.  In my opinion they should have an actual tie breaker, not something done by the computer thats not even based on the competitors talent.  That Chinese girl shouldn't even be competing in the Olympics, she can't be over 12 years old.  Nastia was robbed.

  26. most definitely... d**n cheaters

  27. Even the announcer said Nastia should have won

  28. It means whoever is lucky enough to get the least competent judge to view them favorably wins the tie. So not good! She did a good job smiling while accepting the silver....a true champion!

  29. I Totally agree. the chinese have robbed america of so may golds in gymanstics. its such a shame!

  30. RAWR the austrialian judge took of 3 tenths while the other judges took of barely 1!!!!!

    aand thats why .

so nastia should have gotten the golD!

and its nastia not ANASTIA or however the one person thought nastias name was.. holy cow....

  31. I have answered about 100000000 questions on the same thing already but thanks for the points
