NatWest Women's T20 Quadrangular Series – Australia Women v India Women – Match Recap
Australia Women have beaten India Women by an emphatic margin of eight wickets with more than nine overs left, in a crucial match of the NatWest Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series at the Toby Howe Cricket Ground, Billericay, on June 23, 2011.
Aussie captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lachlan-G-Oswald-Jacobs-c72095 in the track.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Poonam-Ganesh-Raut-c82377 struck a boundary in the very first over of the innings, however, she could not last long and was sent back to the dressing room in the very same over.
After that it was merely a come and go affair for the Indian batters as they never looked like putting up a fight against one of the world’s best team in women cricket.
India lost their nine wickets for a mere 40 runs before Harmanpreet Kaur showed some resistance and took her team’s score to 62. She was bowled out in the 19th over of the innings and the score was still not competitive enough against the strong
Aussie side.
It was a miserable batting performance by the ‘Women in Blue’ as none of the players got into the double figures apart from Kaur. She remained the top scorer with a fighting 41 which came off 49 balls, in which she struck three boundaries and a couple of
hits out of the park.
New ball bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shelley-Nitschke-c89961 also claimed a couple of wickets each to help their team’s cause.
Chasing a very small target, Australia Women were off to a blistering start and never took any sort of pressure. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Meg-Lanning-c75532 played some delightful shots and threw the opposition out of the competition very early in their innings.
Opener, Nitschke will be disappointed that she missed an opportunity to score some runs against the Indian side as she was dismissed after scoring only four runs.
Australia chased down the target in only 10.2 overs, after the loss of just two wickets.
Poulton remained the top scorer with an unbeaten 31 off only 28 balls. Lanning also did well with 23 runs off 18 balls, in which she struck four fours.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Snehal-Nitin-Pradhan-c90618 picked up a wicket each but could not halt the Aussie progress.
The 20-year-old, righ-arm pacer, Coyte, was named as the Player of the Match for her outstanding bowling spell earlier in the day.
