The match saw a spectacular six-wicket haul from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jhulan-Goswami-c66974. The pacer, who is also the skipper of the national team, led her side in a befitting manner, as she completely wreaked havoc on the New Zealand batswomen. Nonetheless,
the Kiwis still managed to post a total on the board which was enough to restrict the Indian side to secure a splendid victory.
Earlier, after winning the toss, the New Zealand skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Suzannah-Wilson-Bates-c92079, opted to bat first, hoping to make good use of the batting conditions on the field.
However, with just eight runs on the board, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lucy-Rose-Doolan-c73250 and skipper Bates who took on the Indian bowlers as both
women exhibited commendable batting strategy by keeping the score board ticking.
The 23-year-old Doolan proved just too good for the Indians as she, without making a mistake, clobbered the opposition at regular intervals.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Poonam-Ganesh-Raut-c82377 off a delivery by Goswami, after playing a 76-run knock. At the time of her departure the total score was 89 runs.
It was then http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Goswami-c41145 delivery straight in the hands of wicketkeeper
Samantha Lobatto, after clobbering 17 runs off 39 deliveries.
When the tally was 152, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Katey-Jane-Martin-c70440 was clean bowled by the belligerent Goswami, after she had scored only eight runs off 13 deliveries. The way the things were going, it seemed New Zealand might not be able to go past 200 runs as the batswomen had no idea
how to counter http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mayank-Goswami-c75433, who was on an adrenaline rush.
After http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Janet-Catherine-Brehaut-c66344 remained not-out after playing a well crafted innings of 23 runs off 33 deliveries as New Zealand managed to post
201 runs on the board for India to chase.
After facing the Goswami Tsunami, little hope was left for New Zealand to restrict the Indian side below a meagre total. However, the New Zealand bowlers stuck to the task and bowled considerably well as they demolished the late batting-order of the Indian
side.
Nonetheless, India had a better start than New Zealand as their openers posted a 38-run stand before losing Neha Tanwar, when she was caught by McGlashan off a delivery by Broadmore, after playing a 12-run knock.
Later when the Indian side was on 57 runs, opener PG Raut lost her wicket by getting run-out after playing a commendable innings of 26 runs off 66 deliveries. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mithali-Raj-c76407, then lost her wicket after adding eight runs in the tally.
However, things seemed well in India’s hands when Harmanpreet Kaur and Veda Krishnamurthy were still on the crease as both women smacked the New Zealand bowlers, creeping closer to the required target.
The two added 52 runs in the tally before Veda got run-out after scoring 25 runs. Later, Kaur, after playing a knock of 33 runs, also got run-out.
After these two, the Indian side never looked like aiming for a victory as Goswami who was unstoppable when she had the ball in her hand, failed to bat her side to victory as she lost her wicket after scoring only 10 runs. In the end, India could only score
162 runs in reply to New Zealand’s tally.
