NatWest Women’s Quadrangular Series – India Women v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 Women – Preview
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Calum-Scott-MacLeod-c49129, the match is scheduled to be staged at the John Walker’s Ground at Southgate
on Tuesday, July 5, 2011.
Despite having abundant talent on both squads, none of the two teams have secured any win in the tournament so far.
Therefore Tuesday’s game will prove to be a crucial bout between the Indians and the Kiwis in an attempt to secure a good footing on the tournament ranking.
This would be the first time the two sides will be facing each other in the ODI format of the series. Earlier, the two teams faced each other under the T20 set-up of the tournament and secured a single win against each other.
For the upcoming match, both the teams will presumably head out with the same squads equipped with decent batting and bowling skills.
Though the Indians have not posted competitive totals in their previous two games, the squad holds some useful individual performers.
The potential Indian batters include http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Poonam-Ganesh-Raut-c82377, who secured two successive half centuries in the first two games of the series.
Following Raut, comes Harmanpreet Kaur, who is another good score bearer for her side. In her first game against the English women, Kaur scored 41 while in the following game she managed to score 31 runs.
Veda Krishnamurthi is another batting talent in the team. The Indian secured a half century in her first game against the English women; however, in the following match against the Australia Women, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Krishnamurthi-c71752 could add just 14 runs.
Other potential batters include team captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mithali-Raj-c76407. The two did not add much to their side in the previous games but if called for, the two may turn out to be hard hitters.
The Kiwis on the other hand, offer a slightly competitive batting line up able to put up a good chasing total.
The squad includes http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lucy-Rose-Doolan-c73250 who scored 42 in her first game but just 3 in the second.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 Women and 40 against English Women.
EC Perry, who turned out to be the highest scorer in the T20 format is another potential threat for the Indians. However in the recent fixtures, the player has not done http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-James-Muchall-c60376 to the total.
New Zealand Women captain Aimee Watkins, is another crucial batter. She scored 7 in her first game and a decent half century in the second game.
As for the other discipline, both the teams also have a talented assortment of bowlers.
The Indian bowling starts with the captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gouher-Sultana-c60424. Both the pacers have been consistent in securing wickets in the previous two games.
Ekta Bisht may also prove to be a contributing bowler. In her second game against the Australians, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajinder-Singh-Bisht-c83586 secured two wickets of the Australian side.
The Kiwi women too hold some strong bowling line up.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nicola-Jane-Browne-c79480 is definitely the star bowler for her side. Browne proved quite steady with wicket taking. She earned 2 wickets each from her previous two games.
Other Kiwi bowlers include Bates, Doolan, Mackay and Watkins.
After today’s game, the two sides will meet again in the deciding, 3rd place playoff match on July 7, 2011.
