NatWest Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series – England Women v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 Women - First Innings Recap
The third match of the NatWest Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series kicked off as the hosts, England Women, took on the Australia Women. The match was staged at the Bristol ground on Saturday, June 25, 2011.
Australia Women currently hold the top spot in the points table after their thrashing 8 wickets triumph against the India Women.
The England Women follow the Australians, securing the second place in the series. In their first match, the English side concluded a competitive win over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 Women.
As for the third game, both the sides belted the field as the English concluded a hefty innings. The hosts managed to accumulate a total of 136 runs including 2 extras and a loss of 6 wickets.   
Australia Women decided to go out with the same strategy they used against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 Women in their opening match of the series. The team won the toss and chose to field.  
The batting side opened their innings with England’s top female batter, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Charlotte-Marie-Edwards-c50507, accompanied by team mate LA Marsh.
The duo inducted a booming start for the English side. The partnership excelled for a thriving total of 59.
The couple, however, could not last long. In an attempt to play a reverse shot, Australian bowler EA Osborne managed to target http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-James-Marshall-c90362’s middle stump, securing the team’s first wicket.
SC Taylor was the next batter to enter the field. The player could not hold the crease for long. After adding just 3 runs to the total and facing 3 balls, Taylor became victim to S Nitschke bowling.
England’s second loss came in the 10th over of the innings with a total of 66 runs.
Following Taylor’s wicket, LS Greenway made her way to the pitch. After securing a decent 17-run partnership, opening batter, Edwards, had to leave for the pavilion.
Edwards was caught out at extra cover by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Charles-Lennox-James-c44309 Blackwell. The wicket taker was EA Osborne. The English skipper was the highest scorer for the side. She managed to aggregate a total of 43 runs while facing 43 balls. Her innings included 2 fours.
In the 16th over, the Australian’s managed to secure Greenway’s wicket as well. By then, England Women stood at 100 runs with a total of 4 wickets lost.
The last 5 overs of the innings added a good sum to England’s total. The major contributors in this quarter were SJ http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 and middle order batter, A Brindle.
After earning a decent 25-run total for her team, Taylor, lost her ground. The player was caught out by Osborne off SJ Coyte’s delivery.
As the session came to an end, Coyte struck once again, securing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Justin-Lee-Langer-c69712 Gunn’s wicket, who was caught out after adding 2 runs to the total. Brindle remained not out at 15.
On the whole, the English batters gave out a bustling performance. They players managed to hold on to an average run rate of over 6 runs per over.
The ending total of 136 runs included 8 boundaries. The hosts delivered a hard hand to the Australia Women.
As the for the opposing bowlers, SJ Coyte and EA Osborne delivered full spells as both earned 2 wickets each for their team. S Nitschke only secured a single wicket giving away 27 runs in her full spell while CR http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Smith-c90598 and LC Sthalekar returned wicketless.
