Place Play-Off - First Innings Recap
On Monday, 27 June, 2011, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 Women took on the New Zealand Women in a bout to secure the third place in the NatWest Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series. The seventh match of the tournament took place at the Officers Club Services Ground at Aldershot.
This is the second time that the two sides have faced each other in the tournament. In their previous match, held at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clifton-c51272 College Close Ground, New Zealand Women managed earn a 25 runs victory over the Indian Squad.
As for the Indian side, this would be their last stand to prove their might in the tournament as they hold the last place in the series.
Monday’s game kicked off with New Zealand Women winning the toss and taking up batting. By the close of the first session, the Kiwis managed to pose a total of 95 runs with a loss of 7 wickets.
New Zealand Women opened their innings as batters SW Bates and team Captain AL Watkins positioned themselves onto the crease.
The batting duo gave a steady 19 runs start to their side. However, trouble came for the Kiwis as both the openers made their way back to the pavilion.
Bates was the first batter to leave the pitch. She was caught out by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hugh-Morris-c63550 Kaur. The opening wicket taker for India Women was A Sharma.
Bates made a slow 3 runs contribution to the total while facing 14 balls.
The Kiwi Captain was the second in line to leave the field. Once again, Sharma was the wicket taker.
The Skipper earned a total of 15 runs including a four.
With two wickets already lost, the troubled Kiwis continued their session with SJ McGlashan and AE Satterthwaite.
Again, the pair could not do much. After a mere partnership of just 3 runs, McGlashan was bowled out by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pradhan-c82439.
In their previous match, it was again Pradhan who secured McGlashan’s wicket.
By the time New Zealand lost their third player, the team had accumulated a total of 22 runs.
However, a little hope came for the Kiwis as EC Perry came on the pitch to join Satterthwaite.
As the game entered the third quarter of the innings, there was some potential from the two batters for accumulating a threatening total against the Indians. However, the hope did not last long.

Perry added 18 runs to her side including a boundary (four).
Satterthwaite turned out to be a major contributor for her team’s total. The Kiwi held on to her wicket as other player came and returned.
Following Perry, other returning batters included http://www.senore.com/Cricket/NJ-Browne-c79768 (7), LR Doolan (0) and finally, Satterthwaite (35).
Satterthwaite was the highest scorer for the New Zealand Women. Her innings included and an aggregate of 35 runs, after facing 44 deliveries. She was the seventh and the final wicket for the session as RH Priest and KE Broadmore remained not out.
KS Anderson and LMM Tahuhu did not bat.
As compared to their last match against the Kiwis, Indian bowlers offered some strong bowling skills. Throughout the session, the bowlers remained quite consistent in wicket taking.
A Sharma remained the highest wicket taker and in fact the star bowler for the Indian side after she dismissed the New Zealand opening duo.
