NatWest Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series – Tournament Recap
The NatWest Women’s Quadrangular Series finally came to its http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Close-c51347 after the England Women wrapped up the tournament and secured the prized cup. The final match of the series took place between England Women and Australia Women, at the Rose Bowl, Southampton,
on Monday, 27 June, 201l.
The English side posed an outstanding performance throughout the tournament as they remained undefeated. Winning the tournament, England Women have managed to regain their top spot in T20 Cricket since the recent decline in the rankings.
On the whole, however, the Quadrangular series, featuring England, Australia, New Zealand and India, turned out to be a successful five-day event. The tournament was seen to be another initiative for bringing about greater development and awareness in Women’s
cricket.

The English squad played their first match of the tournament against New Zealand Women. The hosts earned a thrashing 8 wickets triumph over the Kiwis, turning the game into a one-sided affair. By the end of the match, English Captain, CM Edwards, had her
bowlers to thank for letting the team’s batters chase a minimal total of 83 runs.
As the English ladies cruised on through the series, Australia Women came up as their second opponent.
After producing a fine total of 136, the English Women secured another easy win as the team’s bowling kicked in.
With tournament’s top position already captured, England Women faced no hesitation in their third match with India Women.
England’s consistent triumph and a 46-run win over the Indian team, secured them an already definite place in the finals, which the proud English squad went on to win.
Team Australia, who went on to earn the second place in the series, also displayed a competitive performance throughout the tournament.
In their opening match of the series against India Women, the Australian team proved to the audience what the squad is truly made of.
With just 62 runs ahead of them, the Australians eased into an 8 runs victory, marking their first win of the series.
After their whipping opening performance, a lot was to be expected from the Australian squad.
However, in their second match against the hosts, England Women, the side faced a disappointing defeat as the English bowlers demolished the Australian batting line-up.

Faced with a competitive total of 146, Australian batters LJ Poulton and JE Cameron paved way for their team to victory. The success over the Kiwis earned the winners a place in the final.

It was only against each other that the two teams earned any points on the tournament.
The New Zealand Women earned a 25-run win over the Indians while the Blue Shirts marked a 3-wicket triumph in the 3rd place play-off.
Apart from team performances, there were many individual players who shined and delivered the best for their sides.
New Zealand’s EC Perry was the highest scorer of the series with an aggregate of 118 runs. Australia’s LJ Poulton and England’s CM Edwards follow in second and third places with 111 and 110 runs respectively.
The highest wicket takers of the tournament included England’s HL Colvin with 7 wickets, 6 wickets for India’s SN Pradhan and 6 for the English A Brindle.
