Natali Pronina captures Women’s 100m breaststroke gold – 2012 Paralympic Games
Natali Pronina of Azerbaijan captured gold medal of the Women’s 100m breaststroke in SB12 category on final day of the swimming events at the 2012 London Paralympic Games in Aquatics Centre on Saturday, September 8.
Pronina demonstrated her scintillating efforts in the two-lap discipline as she showed her urgency towards the finishing blockade for the title.
Pronina faced tough competition from Karolina Pelendritou of Cyprus but managed to pave her way towards the finishing blockade for gold medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 16.17 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Pelendritou, who stayed 0.21 seconds behind reached the victory stand for silver medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 16.38 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Yaryna Matlo of Ukraine, who remained nearly four seconds apart and occupied bronze medal of the race by submitting a time of 1 minute and 20.21 seconds.
Matlo was traced by Deborah Font of Spain, who stayed 2.01 seconds slower from overpowering the third position holder and hit the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 22.22 seconds for fourth position.
Font was traced by Maryna Shtal of Ukraine, who was almost 0.90 seconds slower from improving her position and clocked a time of 1 minute and 23.11 seconds for fifth position.
The Ukrainian swimmer was chased by Carla Casals of Spain, who suffered a loss of 0.11 seconds from her preceding swimmer and touched the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 23.22 seconds for sixth best place.
Subsequently, the Spanish player was followed by Anabel Moro of Argentina, who stayed just 0.20 seconds slower and touched the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 23.42 seconds for seventh place.
Eighth position of the event was obtained by Yuliya Volkova of Ukraine, who failed to overwhelm any of her opponents and ended last in the race. Volkova stayed almost three seconds slower and posted a time of 1 minute and 26.06 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, Pronina was extremely happy with her gold securing effort on last day of the event.
