Natalia Ishchenko shines for Russia at the 2011 FINA World Championships
Russia’s Natalia Ishchenko took a huge ovation after claiming three gold medals in the synchronised meets for her country at the 2011 FINA World Championships, in July. Ishchenko snared the gold medal in the Women’s Solo Technical Routine, while she took
home the golden crown in the Duet Technical Routine. She snatched her third title of the championship in the Women’s Solo Routine.
Initially, Natalia Ishchenko came out strongly in the Women’s Solo Technical Routine Finale and snagged the golden crown on the podium with a sterling mark of 98.30 points. Previously, Ishchenko snared two gold medals in the Solo Technical Routine meet in
the 2007 and 2009 editions of the championships, in Melbourne and Rome, respectively.
After the final meet, Ishchenko stated, “My coach said my performance was good. It was not my highest score. I will take part in solo, duets and team this year, so I'm tired.”
Meanwhile, China’s Huang Xuechen picked the silver medal in the platform with an impressive score of 96.50 points and Andrea Fuentes of Spain captured the bronze title of the meet with 95.30 points. Secondly, Natalia Ishchenko and Romashina Svetlana took
home the gold medal in the Women’s Duet Technical Routine with a total score of 98.20 points.
While speaking about her swim, Natalia said, “The secret is our coach plus hard work. I like this sport, and we will participate in the Olympic Games. We will work hard, but we can't say what the goal. I have no secret to maintain the top position. Thanks
to Chinese spectators.”
In the meantime, China’s Huang Xuechen and Liu Ou earned the silver title on the podium with 96.50 points and Spain’s Ona Carbonell and Andrea Fuentes snared bronze medal with a total score of 95.40 points.
Gagnon Boudreau and Elise Marcotte of Canada wound up fourth on the podium with a total mark of 94.10 points, while Yukiko Inui and Chisa Kobayashi of Japan rounded out the top five in the platform with 92.80 points.
Last, but not the least, Ishchenko grabbed the Women’s Solo Routine crown on the podium with an impressive score of 98.550 points. While speaking about her splash in the pool, Natalia stated that she was pleased with her swim.
Meanwhile, Andrea Fuentes of Spain secured the silver medal in the stage with a sterling mark of 96.520 points. On the other hand, Sun Wenyan of China earned the bronze title with 95.840 points. Canada’s Gagnon Boudreau earned fourth place honours on the
podium with a total score of 94.910 points, while Yum Adachi of Japan wound up fifth with 92.810 points.
Ukraine’s Lolita Ananasova settled sixth with a total mark of 91.550 points. Italy’s Linda Cerruti finishes seventh in the stage with a score of 89.950 points, while Jenna Randall of Great Britain was placed eighth with a total mark of 88.880 points. Finally,
Greece’s Despoina Solomou wound up tenth on the podium with 88.590 points.
