Natalia Perminova confounds Louise Seiersen in pre quarter-finals – Iceland International Update
Women’s Singles expert Natalia Perminova of Russia displayed unbeatable craft on the court and surged into the quarter-final round of Iceland International on Friday, November 9, 2012.
She cast out Louise Seiersen of Denmark by piling up an impressive margin of 21-18 and 21-10 in just 19 minutes.
This pre quarter-final battle took place at local badminton arena of Reykjavik and the Russian campaigner served notice of her supremacy by sealing a straight-set victory.
Natalia laid the foundation of her dominance immediately in the beginning of first set and enjoyed an upper hand until last shot was played.
In first half of the opening game, she unleashed a flurry of productive strokes and bagged many valuable points.
This initial lead helped her to keep the opposing shuttler under control in most part of the game. She mounted pressure with couple of uninterrupted points and then doubled the impact by registering a mountainous total of 11.
Tough, later part of the game saw her struggling for a short span of time and this bad patch allowed Louise to narrow the gap.
However, the Russian player did not lose nerve and bounced back with a strong reply. She levelled the score in third quarter of the set and then made a notable difference with few successive points.
Natalia Perminova did not drop this pace and left her competitor far behind with a significant margin of 21-18.
The next game was a one-sided affair as the Danish campaigner failed to rise on her toes in this segment of the showdown.
Louise Seiersen showed decent badminton skills in the beginning but she lost that touch when it was needed the most.
Initially, she matched her rival’s skills and remained close on the points table until half time but then couple of mistakes triggered the collapse.
At this stage, Natalia switched on the best and tipped the scale in her favour. She injected more intensity in her attack after the one-minute break and smacked down Louise with a staggering knock of 21-10.
Now she will be up against a Czech shuttler Zuzana Pavelkova in the quarter-final round of this International Series.
