Natalie Gulbis eager to end her winning drought
American Natalie Gulbis may not have racked up a title since her last win at the Evian Masters in July 2007, but she has proved in recent months that she is capable of making a strong comeback on the Ladies
Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour and ending her protracted victory drought.
Gulbis is one of the experienced golfers on the LPGA Tour, but she still has not been able to win as many tournaments as her fans have expected her to.
At first look, putting Natalie Gulbis on this list of favourite contenders for the ongoing Navistar LPGA Classic may seem rather unfair, however, the American star has what it takes to record a win.
The LPGA titan has put together quite a superb golfing career, notching a total of three professional triumphs. Although she has been able to record just one victory on the LPGA Tour, her current performance
has reflected that the star golfer is keen to put herself on the winning track again.
Gulbis won the Evian Masters by beating South Korean Jeong Jang in playoff. Her performance had been stunning in all the four rounds, as she posted an overall 284 on the leaderboard.
The experienced LPGA star had expressed her feelings after hoisting the trophy, saying she was pretty happy as she managed to beat rivals far stronger than her.
“I was just trying to enjoy it. If it was my time, it was going to be. I was planning on making birdie, so I was definitely excited to go and hit the next shot. I wasn't really in a state of nervousness, like,
'Oh no, now I have to putt!' I was looking forward to it, and just trying to enjoy it,” Gulbis said in one of her interviews after her first LPGA triumph.
“It's fun to be in the hunt, and it's something we all enjoy, and when you get there you want to figure out how you get back there as fast as you can”.
Gulbis took part in the Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012 with plenty of enthusiasm, but failed to make the cut.
Observers said that the field at the major battle was pretty strong, where the weather conditions were also unfavourable, keeping players in trouble throughout the four days.
