Natalie Gulbis eyeing the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia
Natalie Anne Gulbis is in the news for making an appearance at Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia. The event is taking place at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club from Oct 22nd-24th. She will be joined by Michelle Wie and
Cristie Kerr to compete for the title that carries a purse of US$1.8million.
Moreover the tournament will feature the top 50 LPGA members from the Official Money List, along with 10 sponsors’ exemptions which means that a good challenge is coming ahead. The tournament will stretch on three days and it is
a stroke play event which means no cut is required by the players to take part in it.
Coming back to the leading lady, Gulbis was born on January 7th, 1983 in America to a couple, John Gulbis and Barbara Gulbis. She started playing at the age of four and by the time she turned seven, she had won her first
tournament. Like Tiger Woods, Gulbis posed a born talent and this was the reason that she started breaking par at the age of 10.
Regarding her education, she joined an institution in California by the name of Granite Bay High School and at the age of sixteen she graduated from there to join the University of Arizona.
As far as her amateur career is concerned, she started her first LPGA tour event at the age of fourteen. She was the youngest player to qualify for an LPGA event at that time but after that Michelle Wie came in 2002 at the age
of 12. However at the tender age of fourteen, Gulbis won the California Women's Amateur Championship. So by the time she turned eighteen and graduated, she was already a professional. It was at university where Gulbis polished her golfing skills as she spent
a season playing in the university team. There she met Lorena Ochoa as well. Before turning professional, Gulbis spent only one year in college, but even there she posted victories in four tournaments and earned the title of All-American honors.
Moving forward, in 2001 Gulbis earned her LPGA card but that was after she got tied at the third spot in qualifying school. Five years later, she won her first career LPGA tournament by posting a 65 in the final round at the Jamie
Farr Owens Corning Classic. A year later she lost the same title after losing the playoff to Mi Hyun Kim.
Moreover, the American golfer is known for her bubbly nature and that is why in very less time, she made many friends in the golf world. Paula Creamer is one of her best friends and it is she who is seen with her regularly at
parties. A year later, Gulbis incurred a back injury because of which she had to take a break but the advantage of this month off was Gulbis’ amazing body shape. It was the same year in which Natalie Gulbis visited fashion week in the fall of 2007 in New York
and right after that, she rebranded herself as a model. The Fashion world was hit by the natural talent of the player thereby, very soon calendars with her pictures flooded the magazines and markets of New York. Furthermore, she continued her game and it was
2007 when she claimed her first victory at the Evian Masters in France.
Apart from Golf and modelling Gulbis claims to have a huge love for music as well. She says, "I always have an iPod on. When I'm on a plane, when I'm working out, when I'm traveling, I love to listen to music or to books on tape."
This is it for the lovely lady who will be soon catching a plane to Kuala Lumpur to contest for Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia. An exclusive interview of Natalie will be coming up so don’t miss it.
