Natalie Lenderman captures Women’s 50yard freestyle gold: Day two – NJCAA, Florida
Natalie Lenderman of Indian River State College captured the title of Women’s 50yard freestyle playoff on second day of the 2012 National Junior College Athletic Association in Fort Pierce, Florida at the Anne Wilder Aquatic Complex on Thursday, March 8.
The 20-year-old Lenderman demonstrated her gruelling efforts in the 50yard freestyle playoff but with her utter determination, she managed to prevail over her opponents in the shortest freestyle discipline.
She remained dominant over her challengers from the start of the race. Her fastest arm strokes coupled with her powerful kicks played a vital role in her victory. She remained nearly one stroke ahead of her challenger and reached the podium for gold medal
by posting a time of 23.50 seconds.
With her fascinating efforts, she remained just 0.56 seconds slower from the mark of 22.94 seconds, set by Mallory Morrell of Monroe CC during March 2011.
The gold medallist was trailed by Ashly Isaacson of DSC, who was just 0.11 seconds slower from him and transpired on the finishing blockade for silver medal by clocking a time of 23.61 seconds.
The third spot of the race was obtained by Lenderman’s team-member, Chandel Domaso, who stayed 0.36 seconds behind and stepped on the victory stand for bronze medal by producing an effort of 23.97 seconds.
The final event of the session was Men’s 50yard freestyle, where Indian River SC’s Bradley Tandy proved his mettle for the title of the discipline as he tapped the finishing end with an effort of 19.18 seconds.
The gold medallist remained just 0.12 seconds slower from his own mark of 19.06 seconds, which Tandy made in 2011. The second position of the discipline was secured by champion’s team-member, Caleb Weir, who stayed 0.66 seconds slower from him and settled
on the victory stand by completing his race in a time of 19.84 seconds.
Weir’s team-member, Luis Flores emerged as the third finest finisher of the event as he tapped the wall with the timing of 20.01 seconds.
The crowd acknowledged ruthless efforts of all participants whereas the position holders collected medals for their undisputed efforts after the session.
