Nate Diaz chokes Jim Miller to victory – UFC News
Nate Diaz fought in front of the biggest crowd he had ever witnessed, and he did not fade off. Instead, he made every penny of his fans worthwhile by putting up a competitive fight against Jim Miller. Diaz, who made his comeback to the lightweight division
recently, proved that he is ready for a title shot. The match between Miller and Diaz took place as main event this past Saturday night at UFC on Fox 3.
Initially, both the fighters were trying to knockout the other. Diaz tried to unleash his spree of kicks and punches but Miller did not let him get in the mode. Miller kept targeting Diaz’s knees to avoid from getting the grip. However, Miller could not
stop Diaz from being the dominating force in the ring. Since Miller had hometown advantage, the crowd was chanting ‘Let’s go Miller’, but it did not really work. Diaz was enough charged up to bring down hometown champion with a guillotine choke in the final
round.
After the fight, when asked about the fight, Diaz said, “It was my time to shine, I guess.”
When asked about what Miller brought to the ring, Diaz iterated, “I'm feeling good. I know he's a great fighter. I have nothing bad to say about the guy. I'm trying to be No. 1 in this world. I'm down for whatever.”
On the other hand, when Miller was approached and asked for his comments, he said, “Nate controlled the fight from bell to bell. He never let me get any significant shots in there. He had my number. He was landing strikes and hurting me ... I knew he was
one of the best. He deserves that shot.”
By winning this fight, Diaz has proven himself worthy of a title shot. However, President of UFC Dana White has not yet confirmed if Diaz will make it to the title shot. All White said is that Diaz will have to wait and if he wants he can wait or else he
can move on. Probably, White does not think Diaz is yet enough to take on the champion.
