Nate Diaz knows he has to stop Ben Henderson instead of relying on a decision – UFC News
Recently, many fighters have become afraid of winning fights via decision, especially when it is about facing a tough foe. Nate Diaz, lightweight contender under the Ultimate Fighting Championship banner, is one of them. According to Diaz, when he goes face
to face against UFC lightweight champion Ben Henderson at UFC on Fox 5, he will have to knock the champion out instead of relying on the judges for a decision win.
“I just don't think that I have any chance of winning any type of decision. So, I gotta go out there and do what I gotta do to finish my opponent, be the better fighter and win the fight. Either way. If it goes to a decision, I'm gonna try to be the one
outscoring, outpointing and outdoing him,” said Diaz in his recent interview.
Diaz will face Henderson on December 8.
“It's almost like, in Nick's case, he figures he's fighting his opponent, and he's fighting the judges. So, he's gotta finish people. These guys fight like that anyways, and they're gonna fight their hearts out for the team, for themselves, and for the fans,”
he added when asked about the way his older brother Nick Diaz fights.
He further said that he needs to win via knockout since against B.J. Penn, his brother suffered an ill decision. According to Nate, there has never been a moment when a ‘Diaz’ has won via decision.
For some reason, Nate believes that the ‘Diazes’ have always been treated unfairly. According to him, whenever there is a close a fight, the decision always goes to the other person instead of the ‘Diazes’.
In other words, like many other young fighters, even Nate is of the view that leaving the fight on judges will not do him any good. He wants to finish his opponent in the ring in order to achieve a dominant win instead of a close one via decision.
For now, Nate is hopeful that he will be able to stop Henderson regardless of what comes and goes. He is confident that he has everything to finish the champion.
