Nate Diaz overpowers Donald Cerrone to earn a unanimous victory - UFC 141

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) held UFC 141 on December 30, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada, featuring the lightweight division brawl, with the American MMA fighters, Nate Diaz, taking down Donald Cerrone through a unanimous
decision 30-27, 30-27, 29-28.
Cerrone’s aggression was witnessed right at the beginning of the opening round but Diaz was also attentive to his opponent’s move and evaded being punched. Diaz moved forward and used his grappling techniques, as Cerrone
was in a vulnerable position. The grappling didn’t seem to work as Cerrone broke free and threw a right punch landing right on its target. Diaz soon began his counter attack with strikes and heavy clouts, including the punch combo to exert pressure upon his
opponent.
Diaz’s extremely well executed foray gave no chance to Cerrone to use his feet and keep away from the strikes. Diaz’s punches were placed right on Cerrone’s head and face with extreme intensity, leaving his face covered with
his own blood. In the final seconds of the first round, Cerrone went for a final blow but could only deliver a knee strike which missed its target. The first round ended with Diaz having the upper hand.
As the second round progressed, Diaz was again on his offensive and kept moving with his attacking norms to sustain his momentum. Cerrone lost his composure in the bout after the heavy beating he received in the first round.
He tried to focus on the fight but Diaz was not giving him much room to think with his strikes. Cerrone did his best to stay in the fight but his kicks were not directed with much force, however, Diaz was not wasting any chance to hit his opponent with his
punches.
Cerrone was fading away, with Diaz taking advantage of everything in the cage. Diaz’s aggressive run was broken temporarily when Cerrone took him down with his leg kick but it was a short lived success as Diaz came back on
his feet within seconds. With the second round coming to its end, Cerrone went exhausted, while Diaz was still fighting with the same vigour. The round ended with Diaz having the obvious upper hand.
The third round of the fight was when fans were chanting Diaz’s name and wanted him to finish off the fight at the earliest. Diaz was still focused on Cerrone’s face, as all of his punches were directed to his jaws and head.
Blood was continuously gushing from Cerrone’s face, painting it red in no time. Cerrone had some fight left in him as he flew a knee strike but Diaz was ready as he countered and attacked with his combo punches. Diaz followed with a jumping kick which found
its target once again. Cerrone was unable to throw any punches but kept moving to avoid further attacks. The third round ended with Cerrone bruised and battered. Diaz was given a win by the judge’s unanimous decision of 30-27, 30-27, 29-28.
