Nate Robinson takes over as Golden State Warriors stun Miami Heat in overtime: NBA Recap
Nate Robinson came off the bench to score 24 points, including 15 in the crucial fourth quarter while Dorrell Wright and David Lee scored 20 apiece as the Golden State Warriors overcame a 17 point deficit late in the third quarter, to stun the Miami Heat 111-106 in overtime.
Lee also grabbed 14 rebounds on the night, including 8 on the offensive glass, while Wright had 10 rebounds and made 6 of his 11 three point attempts, including the one which took the game to overtime.
Miami were led by 34 points from Dwyane Wade, LeBron James scored 26 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assist while an off colour Chris Bosh only managed 16 points on a 7 of 15 shooting from the floor.
With 1:17 to go in the third quarter, LeBron James knocked down a pull up jumper to stretch Miami Heat’s advantage to 84-67 and at that point that Heat, boosted by the return of James and Dwyane Wade, were cruising to a win.
However, it was not to be.
Nate Robinson, who was included in the Warriors lineup just a week back, took the game by the scruff of the neck and erupted with 15 points, capped by a three point play to make it 93 all, in the game changing fourth quarter. James and Wade combined for three free throws in the ensuing passage, but Dorrell Wright drilled a three with 31.2 seconds left to make it 96 apiece and that was the way it remained after the end of regulation time.
Early in the overtime, the teams matched each other shot for shot and after Chris Bosh slipped in a jumper, Miami took a 104-102 lead with 1:47 left on the clock. Wright worked the three point line and knocked home a trey on the next Warriors possession and Robinson again came up big with a steal on James.
He dished out a lob to the other end and Wright jammed the rim to give Golden State a three point cushion at 107-104, 1:06 remaining.
Wade and Monta Ellis, who ended the night with 22 points and 9 turnovers, traded jumpers on the next play, but Miami missed the next three field attempts, including two three point efforts from James as the Warriors came back from the dead to pull off a famous win.
Robisnson fittingly gave the finishing touches to the game with a pair of free throws.
