  1. I don't think Geelong will lose much, if it was his brother that would be a huge blow. From the little I have heard he seems to really dislike attention so playing topline AFL would be a hard place for him to be.

  2. He is the shy one of the two. If you look back to his junior career he did not go through the Geelong Falcons. Instead he played with his mates at a local team. It is where he feels more comfortable in. He does not want the celebrity which comes with the job and the name.

I think he will play AFL next year, but he will not be a 10 year player. Luckily for Geelong they have another father son recruit ready to step in at any stage (Hawkins).

  3. WHAT???

He only turns 22 in December.

    He is still so young.

Of course your right..It will be a waste.

    Did he say why?

I'm thinking that he thinks he will never live up to his dads standards. What a shame. :(

  4. If his name was John Smith I'm sure he'd have whole different attitude towards his football.

Regardless of what anyone may say it must be stressful having the name Ablett - especially playing for Geelong. He'd be better off playing for WCE where others have all the media attention of late.

This recent public revelation by his old man in relation to his drug use only adds to the pressure & scrutiny he is under. Nathan does not come across as one who wants to be in the limelight all the time.

  5. I hope he seriously thinks about it, because later on he may regret it.
