Nathan Adrian occupy Men’s 50m freestyle gold – 2013 Arena Grand Prix
Nathan Adrian of California Aquatics occupied gold medal of the Men’s 50m freestyle on day two of the 2013 Arena Grand Prix in Colorado, USA, on Friday, February 15.
The 24-year-old Adrian remained in a prominent lead over his challengers from the start and made his way to the finishing end for gold medal. Adrian, who captured gold medal of the 100m freestyle at the 2012 London Olympics, showed no mercy to his opponents
and touched the wall for the title.
Adrian enjoyed a comfortable lead over his opponents and sprinted his way towards the finishing end for gold medal by reporting an effort of 21.70 seconds.
Adrian was traced by Anthony Ervin of California Aquatics and Jimmy Feigen of Longhorn Aquatics, who engaged each other in neck-to-neck race for second position. Both swimmers tried hard to overpower each other in the single lap event but failed to do so
and finished their race in a joint finish for second position.
They stayed 0.73 seconds away from their former finisher and climbed the podium for silver medal by clocking a time of 22.43 seconds.
The duo of silver medallist was traced by Garrett Weber-Gale of Longhorn Aquatics, who was 0.52 seconds slower and surfaced on the wall for fourth position by posting an effort of 22.95 seconds.
Fifth spot of the race was obtained by Matt Grevers of Tucson Ford Deal, who suffered a deficit of 0.03 seconds from his foregoing finisher and hit the wall with an effort of 22.98 seconds.
Sixth spot of the event was obtained by Geoffrey Cheah of Palo Alto Stanford, who was 0.11 seconds away from his former finisher and clocked a time of 23.09 seconds.
Cheah was followed by Kelly Aspinall of UBCSD, who was 0.20 seconds slower and occupied seventh spot of the event by posting an effort of 23.29 seconds.
Last position of the race was obtained by Luke Peddie of UBCD, who was 0.06 seconds apart and posted 23.35 seconds for eighth position.
Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the victory ceremony of the event.
