Nathan Adrian wins Men’s 50m freestyle title: Day three – ConocoPhillips Nationals Championships
Nathan Adrian of California Aquatic won the title of Men’s 50m freestyle meet on third day of the ongoing 2011 ConocoPhillips National Championships on Thursday, August 4, in Palo Alto, California.
The championship is a seven-day long course swimming competition, taking place at the Avery Aquatic Center of Stanford University.
Adrian presented his astonishing efforts in the final round and clinched the title of single-lap event, by submitting a phenomenal time of 21.84 seconds. Adrian, who qualified as the top fastest swimmer into the final, met the expectations of his fans, by
winning the title of the event.
He was followed by Longhorn Aquatic’s James Feigen, who failed to overwhelm the effort of gold medallist, with a difference of just 0.19 seconds. Similarly, Feigen out-touched his closest competitor, Garrett Weber-Gale with a difference of just 0.01 seconds.
Weber-Gale reached the podium for the bronze medal, by clocking a time of 22.04 seconds.
Nicholas Brunelli of SwimMAC Carolina transpired as the fourth fastest swimmer to appear on the finishing wall, as he stayed only 0.15 seconds behind Weber-Gale and ended his swim in a time of 22.19 seconds. Then, the 35-year-old Jason Lezak of Rose Bowl
Aquatic emerged as the fifth finest swimmer of the 50m event, as he clocked a time of 22.33 seconds. Adam Small of Tucson Ford Deal was only 0.02 seconds slower than his preceding swimmer, as he earned sixth position, with a timing of 22.35 seconds.
He was trailed by his team-member, Matthew Grevers, whose swim was 0.04 seconds slower than Small and ranked him as the seventh position holder of the event. Subsequently, Josh Schneider of SwimMAC Carolina remained just 0.02 seconds behind and  followed
Grevers on the concluding wall, with an eighth fastest timing of 22.41 seconds.
The day concluded after the completion of all the scheduled swimming events, while the arena applauded the phenomenal efforts of all swimmers in the respective meet. The winners of the category were also awarded with medals after the session ended.
