Former Australian fast bowler, Nathan Bracken has taken Cricket Australia to court over his chronic injury troubles, which forced him to retire in 2010.
The left-armer is seeking compensation, somewhere in the region of $1million, claiming that his former employers were negligent in handling his career-threatening knee injury. The player, who needed three operations in order to recover from a troublesome knee problem asserted that the team doctors failed to fully guide him in his difficult period and will now seek the court justice to claim damages.
The damage includes his medical expenses and wages, which rise up to a total of USD one million.
Meanwhile the case has been adjourned for now, giving Cricket Australia added time to produce the necessary documents, including the player medical files. The proceedings are set to continue on the next court date, which is November 30.
Bracken’s manager, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robin-James-Boyd-Moss-c86323 Horton hopes that the case can swiftly move forward as soon as the documents related to the player’s medical injuries are presented in the court.
"We just want to get hold of Nathan's medical records and once we get those in we can move forward," he said after the hearing.
The player retired in January of 2010, after losing his central contract. Throughout his career, the 34-year-old has been troubled by a series of serious injuries. He made his ODI debut for the national team in 2001 and went onto represent the country in over 100 matches, taking 174 wickets at 24.36.
Tall and slim, Bracken also played five Test matches wearing the baggy green shirt between a period of 2003 and 2005; however, his stint in the five-day format was hardly of note.
Recently the player came in the news for all the wrong reason after being named in the spot-fixing trial, currently being held in London. A book-maker, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377.
However, the left-armer has denied any such charges and has threatened to take legal action against book-maker with Cricket Australia backing their players.
“We support their vigilance to the fullest extent,” CA spokesman said.
