Nathan Brown believes Giants will reach full potential - Rugby League News
Nathan Brown, Huddersfield Giants coach, is convinced that his team will spring back into action after their embarrassing defeat of 0-47 against the Warrington Wolves this Friday, September 16. Brown is hoping against hope, to keep Giants’ Super League play-off
dreams alive.
This loss is devastating for the entire outfit, as they completely failed to rebut the scores earned by their opponents, which makes them the second team since 1998, to have faced this humiliation.
However, despite the demoralising loss, Giants still have a second chance to avail which is a home-tie before the semi-final showdown.
Although, Giants still have a luxury of an extra chance but that makes the schedule too hectic before the semi-final. This way, unlike the winners of Friday’s clash, they will not have a week off before the semi-final.
Wolves have smoothened out their route to the semi-final berth by getting a week-long break along with the option of choosing their own opponents for the clash.
While speaking about his side’s weak performance in Friday’s clash, Brown stated, "But, if you are on the back of a big penalty count and you give Warrington so much field possession, they can do that to anyone. They showed that against Wigan only two or
three weeks ago. We're still alive next week. We'll come in (on Saturday), dust ourselves off and sit down and have a bit of meeting and decide where we're going to head.”
Brown acknowledged that the situation is tough for Giants but was firm on his stance that his franchise can spring up nonetheless.
Brown reckons that his franchise has sailed through more convoluted scenarios than the current one. While comparing the similarity to the events of last year, when they were beaten by Wolves with a huge difference of 60, he highlighted that Giants did not
lose their heart in the remaining games. Eventually, later in the year, Giants had avenged their embarrassing defeat by Wolves. This unique characteristic of Giants makes their coach more confident about their full potential.
He said that it is part of the game for which one’s team should be always prepared. The important thing lies in the fact is that how you learn from your mistakes until you rule them out of the equation completely.
This means that the decision about the team’s future lies within their own hands. They have all the power to make it or break it.
The Giants are at a very precarious crossroad in the rugby league palette, with eight away encounters already lost by them, but the hope still lingers on for them, as Brown is putting in everything which could bring the Giants back to glory.
